Dear bobbyd_575!
Welcome to the Microsoft Community!
I understand that you want to transfer files from Windows to Mac, but file format compatibility is an important factor to consider when transferring files between Windows and Mac. Here's how to ensure file format compatibility and use different methods to transfer files:
About file system formats
HFS+: This is the default file system before Mac OS X, and Windows does not support direct reading and writing.
NTFS: This is the default file system for Windows, and Mac OS X can read NTFS-formatted drives, but cannot write to them by default.
FAT32: This is an older file system format that is supported by both Windows and Mac OS, but a single file cannot exceed 4GB.
exFAT: This is a newer file system format that is supported by Windows and Mac OS X 10.6.5 and later, and has no file size limit, making it suitable for storing large files.
Using exFAT format
If your Mac system version is Mac OS X 10.6.5 or higher, you can format your external hard drive or USB drive to exFAT format to seamlessly transfer files between Windows and Mac:
On Windows, right-click the external hard drive or USB drive and select "Format".
Select "exFAT" in the "File System" drop-down menu.
Click "Start" to format.
Using Cloud Services
Using cloud storage services, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud, you can easily transfer files between different operating systems:
Upload the files to the cloud service.
Log in to the same cloud service account on your Mac.
Download the files to your Mac.
Using a removable storage device
If you choose to use a mobile hard drive or USB drive:
Make sure it is formatted as exFAT (if your Mac system version supports it).
Copy the files from your Windows computer to the removable storage device.
Connect the removable storage device to your Mac computer and copy the files to your Mac.
Notes
Before performing any formatting operations, make sure to back up all important data.
If your Mac system version is lower than 10.6.5, you may need to upgrade the system or use another compatible file system format.
With the above methods, you should be able to transfer files from your Windows computer to your Mac computer smoothly. When choosing a transfer method, take into account the size and number of files, as well as whether you want to transfer them over the Internet.
I hope above information can help you. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Tell me the results. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your understanding and support!
