I have even repaired the phone link app and reset it, but it's the same problem. And yes, mine stopped working a few days ago as well.
Phone Link error 256
A few days ago after a windows 11 update, my phone link stopped connecting to my android S22 ultra. I know Dex or Samsung Flow works but Phone Link is not and seems to be a large issue if I search the issue on the internet.
I have to day, very surprised that Microsoft is the developer of this software. Not performing like a Microsoft company product should.

2024-11-24T19:34:50+00:00 Everything on phone link works with my smartphone ( Photos, Messages, etc) except having the smart phone screen on my computer screen
isn't working now as of a few days ago. The update I suspect that caused this problem after installed cannot be UN-installed either.
I guess that is basically what happened to me as well. It always worked great... Msft even improved it where it would automatically connect without need to OK it on the phone every single time. That was a welcome improvement. But now in is in operable. When I click on the phone image in Phonelink to open it on my Win10 desktop I get a pair request on my phone with a passkey. As you would expect. However this is what appears in my Windows settings:
That little black pairing screen is too small and provides no place to enter the passkey. I cannot stretch it. Then I tried a different approach. I removed my my android phone from the paired devices list. Then tried again, got a message that the phone was not paired. I attempted the pairing process. This time when I tried to bring the phone screen up on the desktop, it circumvented the little box above and told me phone was not paired... so I tapped the name of my laptop on the phone bluetooth screen, it went thru a process where the phone now reads "connected for calls" but I still get same message on my phone image on the PC desktop "We're having trouble connecting your device" and a "try again" button which just yields the same result over and over. And at the bottom "error code 256" - I have researched that error code and am stumped. If anyone at Msft monitors this forum I would sure like to get my "Link to Windows working again :-(
