When I download an App that is a Zip file, should I extract the files in the same Download folder? I have a newer Lenovo with Windows 11.

Thank you!

Hi, I am an Independent Advisor.

Let me help you with this issue.

You can create a new folder in your Documents folder and you can extract the Zip file from there.

Once extracted you can open the extracted folder and install the application.

    Follow the steps below.

    1. Locate the ZIP File

Open File Explorer (press Win + E).

Navigate to the Downloads folder (or wherever you saved the ZIP file).

    1. Right-click the ZIP File

Find the ZIP file you want to extract.

Right-click on it to bring up the context menu.

    1. Select “Extract All”

In the context menu, click on “Extract All…”.

A dialog box will open, asking where you want to extract the files.

    1. Choose the Destination Folder

Click “Browse…” in the dialog box to select your extraction location.

Navigate to This PC > Documents.

If you want, you can create a new folder within Documents:

    Click on New Folder.

Name the folder appropriately (e.g., MyAppName).

    1. Confirm the Location

Once you've selected or created the folder in Documents, click “Select Folder”.

The destination path will now show in the extraction dialog box.

    1. Extract the Files

Check the box for “Show extracted files when complete” if you want the folder to open automatically after extraction.

    Click “Extract”.

    1. Access Your Extracted Files

Once the extraction is complete, the folder containing the extracted files will open.

You can now run the installer or open the files as needed.
