Thank you for your response.
Here are some general steps you can try (you can skip any that you have already attempted):
Is this an external device? If so, try using a different USB port:
If you have multiple USB ports, insert the device into another port, especially try different types of ports (e.g., USB 2.0 or USB 3.0). Sometimes, insufficient power supply or port failure can cause this issue. Trying different ports can help determine if it's a port hardware failure.
Test if the USB device is functioning properly:
If possible, insert the USB device into another computer to see if it can be recognized.
Disable USB selective suspend setting:
USB selective suspend may cause some USB devices to be incorrectly recognized. You can try disabling this setting:
Open "Control Panel" and select "Power Options".
Click "Change plan settings" next to the current power plan, then select "Change advanced power settings".
Expand "USB settings", and in "USB selective suspend setting", set both "On battery" and "Plugged in" to "Disabled".
Save the settings, restart your computer, and check if the issue is resolved.
Update or reinstall motherboard chipset drivers:
Sometimes USB port issues may be related to chipset drivers. You can try updating the motherboard chipset drivers:
Go to the Acer website, enter your computer model (Acer Aspire 5), and download the latest chipset drivers.
Install the downloaded drivers, then restart your computer.
Disable Fast Startup:
The Fast Startup feature in Windows 11 may cause USB devices to not initialize correctly. You can try disabling it:
Open "Control Panel" and click "Power Options".
Click "Choose what the power buttons do", then select "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
Under "Shutdown settings", uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)".
Save changes and restart your computer.
Reinitialize USB controllers:
If the issue persists, you can try reinitializing the USB controllers:
In "Device Manager", expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
Right-click each USB Root Hub and Generic USB Hub, and select "Uninstall device".
After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows will automatically detect and reinstall these drivers.
Replace the data cable or USB hub:
If you are using a hub or extension cable, try connecting the device directly to the computer's USB port. Poor quality or insufficient power supply from the data cable or hub can also cause the device descriptor request failed issue.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to check the event logs (Event Viewer) to see if there are any events related to this error, and look for any other error messages or details to further understand the problem.
I hope the above information is helpful to you.
