How do I fix monitor screen becoming yellow when I open the settings in Windows 11?

Hello, I've had a problem with my screen becoming a yellowish hue whenever I open the settings in Windows 11 and occasionally when I open other things. I've found that simply clicking on the display settings menu causes the screen to look correct again, but it will inevitably become yellow again, usually when I open something like the settings, for instance. This problem doesn't happen on my old PC with Windows 10.

In the NVIDIA control panel, I can override the color to reference mode, which stops the yellowing problem altogether. However, I then can't adjust the nightlight setting and certain other settings.

I have the latest drivers for my monitor and graphics card, and I have the latest Windows update. I've also tried using the default color profile and the manufacturer color profile, which hasn't made a difference. The MSI display kit does nothing when the screen is yellow.

Monitor: MSI G32C4

Display Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

    Hello Nate,

    i solved the problem.

You have to delete the MSI Apps that are downloaded on your Pc.

I then redownloaded the AMD Adrenaline Software, and it fixed it.

Try not to change the vanilla settings, somehow, my RX 6700 XT doesnt like it.

    Hope it helps you to.

    Best Regards

    Hi Nate,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

It sounds like you are experiencing a color calibration issue with your monitor when opening certain applications in Windows 11. Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:

    • Disable Night Light: Try disabling the Night Light feature in Windows 11. You can do this by going to Settings > System > Display > Night Light and toggling the switch to off.
    • Check Windows Color Calibration:
      • Open Control Panel and search for "Calibrate display color."
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to recalibrate your display color settings.
      • After calibration, check if the yellowing issue still occurs.
    • Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. If a problem doesn't happen in safe mode, this means that default settings and basic device drivers aren't causing the issue. Observing Windows in safe mode enables you to narrow down the source of a problem, and can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC. Start your PC in safe mode in Windows - Microsoft Support
    • Test Another Monitor or Cable: If possible, test your computer with a different monitor or using a different cable (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort) to rule out any hardware issues with your current setup.

Hopefully, one of these steps will help you fix the yellow tint issue when opening settings or other applications on Windows 11.

    Your Sincerely

See if reader mode is on. This will leave the yellow tint when night mode is off.

I had this problem also when I turned the night light setting off.

The reader mode is one of my fn buttons and next to my keyboard backlight button.

I have the same problem too. Tried the above solution, but it just became normal for a while, then the yellow tint came back again.
Any solution can solve it for good?
