Can we escalate a persistant issue with Windows 11 and AMD hardware that affects many users?

Hello,

There is a bug or issue associated with AMD GPU (and maybe CPU) hardware and Windows 11. This has been persistant roughly since Windows 11 release.

Symptoms/Troubleshooting:

  • Screens Freeze, Peripheral input stops working, Sound continues to play through headset/speakers, PC Case LEDs reset to default colors after about 10 seconds.
  • I use my pc for gaming and so this has generally occurred while gaming. Not specific to one game in particular.
  • Have to hold power button or press reset button to restart PC.

Please review the below links for previous forum posts that chronicle all of my symptoms and troubleshooting efforts.

Reddit post with other users having the same issue:

Reddit - Windows 11 randomly freezing unresponsive on all

I did not compile a list of the various sites where others are also having this issue. Just this one link above.

Solution (sort of):

Uninstall Windows 11 - Install Windows 10.

This solution worked. I have been using Windows 10 for over a year now since uninstalling Windows 11 and have not experienced the same issue. Yesterday, I re-installed Windows 11 and then today the issue resurfaced. This is a problem the directly correlates with Windows 11 only.

This issue should be escalated to microsoft. I am unsure of how to proceed other than re-installing Windows 10.

I am also now having this issue, I have just removed a Nvidia 2080 Super to upgrade to a Radeon 7900XT and at the same time installed a Samsung 2TB SSD.

Fresh install of Windows 11 Home and everything works perfectly, bench tested and got +++ results.

BUT... My PC randomly freezes all the time. No reason for it, sometimes while just putting in my PIN to login, other times gaming or just typing into google chrome.

Surely this has now been reported enough times for there to be a fix?

Do I really have to revert back to Windows 10 for this to be fixed?

Same issue. Sound continues, mic is unresponsive, video unresponsive, No keyboard inputs seem to register (CTRL + ALT + DEL), only way to unlock seems to be a reboot via power button.

I am facing this same problem. My specs are as follows:

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D

    GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3090

    RAM 64 GB

    OS: Windows 11 Pro

Freezes randomly and reboots. Frequency has increased a lot lately, to multiple times a day.

Same issue except for me it seems to be less severe. The screen isn't freezing but programs that use the GPU to work simply stop working or display themselves as a white window.

Mouse still works. Attempts to minimize individual windows fail, buttons fail to respod, and any attempts to reboot are simply ignored.

It happened twice to me today, once upon starting up my pc and another just as I was shutting it down. For the second I was playing minecraft and eanted to save and quit.

I have no idea what to do here as event viewer doesn't even acknowledge there's an issue at all?

    Help please.
