I noticed this problem when I first booted up my laptop (Win 11) yesterday and I just noticed this problem again a few minutes ago after Windows Explorer as well as Microsoft Edge was being unresponsive. Is this a sign of malware or is this just a common issue with Windows 11?

Hi, thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today, my timezone is UTC +8.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, this usually occurs due to services running in the background that interrupt the system process, in addition, it can also be caused by malware depending on how you use the PC(Downloading and installation software from unknown or third-party websites) in addition, let us check for running services first, kindly follow the steps below:

    Do clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

If the issue persists, kindly run a Windows Defender offline scan and full scan so that we can address malware issues on the PC:

    Windows Defender Offline scan: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hel...

    Windows Defender Full scan:

Open Windows Security > Virus and Threat Protection> Scan option > Full scan > Click Scan now

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

    Bernard
