Need help finding out why my acer predator helios neo 16 keeps crashing and getting bsod. Intel i9 14900hx and rtx 4070. every driver is up to date. i also noticed that intel specifies on their website that my cpu`s PL1 should be set to 55 watt, but on this pc is is set to 115 watt. PL2 is set to 157 watt. I have basicly tried every guide i could find, but nothing seems to help. most of these crashes accours when playing runescape 3, and i have tried several clean installs.

I got a call from the service on my pc a couple of days ago, where he told me that they needed to replace te cpu. I have since sendt them a long email where i basicly refere to the law in my country, that if a product has fault like this within the first 6 months, the fault is to be considered to have been in the product when i bought it and this give me the consumer the right to get a full refund.

I wrote that there are confirmed faults with this type of cpu, and if they could not prove to me otherwise, i wanted my money back. They never replyed to the email.

Today i contacted them via live chat and asked them about the email. They told me that the thermal paste and motherboard was replaced, not the cpu like thay said earlier, and basicly dinied to reply on my email.

I honestly dont have any clue what i should do now. Isnt there a big chance the cpu has taken demage with the overheating and to high voltage?

Hi, thank you for patiently waiting, based on the initial error you have, there is a problem with the CPU, however, it can also be a motherboard problem or a PSU, the motherboard might be getting a power loss, or the PSU unable to supply the correct voltage, since the PC is still under warranty, have you tried to change the board just to check? in addition, before replacing the CPU, is there a chance that they can test a different CPU just to check? because if that works fine, that is the time you can replace the CPU, and it will not degrade fast as long as it has the right voltage, in addition, if you replace any hardware, I suggest to reinstall Windows OS and BIOS to make sure that it is calibrated.

did some testing for a couple of hours, and with the clean boot everything works fine with no crashes.

I realized that if i just enable predator sense again and put it in either performence or boost mode (some times in balanced mode), the crashes and high cpu temperature comes right back as before. No crashes in quiet mode, just a huge performance drop. There is also no new updates for predator sense.

I have delivered the pc for repairs now to my local dealer. Said i wanted a new product because whatever they do besides changing the cpu to another brand, the problems will most likely occour again. They told me they would have to try and repair it atleast once and if the same problem occurs again within 1 year from when i bought it (13.august this year) i could get a new product or money back.

I dont quiet understand why this is happening to the cpu, but if they dont replace it, it would be pretty degraded by now and i am already getting cpu hardware faults?, and if they replace it the new one would just degrade or stop working pretty fast anyways? There is also no way to undervolt or anything because of the locked bios?

From what i understand, intel has confirmed that there are stability issues and etc with the 13th and 14th cpu’s for desktops, but they deny that these problems also affects the laptop versions? And then release the 0x129 that is supposed to fix these issues?

I also updated bios to the 0x129 microcode from acers website a couple of weeks ago, but this obviously didnt fix anything.

Any suggestions to what i should do here? I realy dont want the pc back with the same cpu as something is obviously wrong with it, as many other people claims including me. And if they mean they have fixed the issue, i guess the cpu wont last very long, and i would have to buy a new pc pretty fast if the warranty runs out?

Hi, thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today, my timezone is UTC +8.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, upon analyzing and checking the DMP files, the error you have is GenuineIntel.sys, this is a processor error it is either the processor is getting hardware errors or it is overheating, moreover kindly follow the steps below for us to fix the issue:

Method 1. Run Intel Diagnostic tool:

    Go to this link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/downloa...

Then download and run the tool.

Suppose there is any failure on the test. In that case, that means there is a hardware issue on your processor, which needs to contact Intel support or a local technician on the next step, which might be a processor replacement or board depending on the diagnosis on the hardware.

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

    Method 1. Do clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

    Troubleshooting reference: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135...

Method 2. Run memory diagnostic tool: The memory diagnostic tool is a RAM test to check if there are any RAM issues.

    • Press Windows key + R then type in mdsched.exe hit OK then restart the device.

Note: If the issue persists, I suggest contacting a local technician to physically check the processor or do a re-pasting of thermal paste to optimize the processor.

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

    Bernard

Also worth noting that the rs2client also sometimes freeze and crashes then just closes without me having to restart the pc, it is completely random tbh and it happens evey 1 minute to 1 hour. Aslo noticed cpu temps are spiking to 102 degrees, and there is alot of cpu throttling even though the cpu is overall at 3% with cores 2 and 3 at about 50% load. Gpu temps stays steady at 70 degrees, 45% load.
