My laptop (ASUS Rog Zephyrus G14/AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics) restarts randomly when I am connected to internet through my Ethernet/USB-C connector adapter (HAMA 00200322), a blue screen error appears and says rtux64w10 is at fault. I can't find the right pilot I need to reinstall in the Device Manager. Can someone help me, please?

    Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been offline.

    Thanks for the screenshots.

    It is confirmed that the driver causing system instability belongs to the USB adapter.

    I looked for a new driver version, but unfortunately, I couldn't find a reliable source for you to download it. I only found sites known to provide incorrect drivers or drivers with malware.

    In this case, I suggest doing the following:

    Uninstall the current adapter driver as instructed below:

    1. Open "Device Manager" (Windows + X and select Device Manager);
    2. Expand "Network adapters";
    3. Right-click on the adapter "Realtek USB GbE Family Controller" and select "Uninstall device";
    4. On the confirmation screen, check "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" and click "Ok";
    5. Restart the PC.

    After restarting your PC, the driver should be reinstalled automatically. If necessary, disconnect and reconnect the adapter.

    Then, see if the system will work stably with the adapter connected.

    If the blue screen occurs again after doing this, share the minidump it created. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

    Feel free to ask back any questions.

    Looking at the troubleshooting that the Advisor below is going through, I'd like to point out that this does not seem like a typical single user tech issue that someone is experiencing.

    I have the same exact issue with the same series of Laptop. And this only occurred AFTER the most recent Windows Update.

    Unless users with different hardware are experiencing this after the update as well, this issue seems to stem from the most recent Windows Update without driver support/updates included for these laptops.

    FYI: The First Controller from the list David has suggested should be the most stable.

    I had this same issue. BSOD , with a message "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT LESS OR EQUAL". sometimes it showed as KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED , but both show "what failed?" as rtux64w10.sys. This was also on my Asus Zenbook.

    I disabled the realtek usb network controller from Device Manager. then installed the win11 driver from Realtek's own site (rather than Windows Updated).

    Enabled the Device again, and no more BSOD. I only wish the BSOD message contained the words "Real Tek". in hindsight i now see that "rt" in the filename is realTek, but that's hard for an average user to decrypt.
