What's the regular IT protocol for this sort of situation?

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

    Windows Key.

If Windows 11 came pre-installed on your PC, then there is an OEM licence stored on a chip on the motherboard and if you re-install Windows 11, it should activate automatically.

If Windows 11 did not come pre-installed on your PC, where did you get your Windows licence, did you purchase a retail licence form Microsoft or from some 3rd party retailer.

    2

    Recovering your files.

If you deleted the partition that Windows and your data was stored on, there is no native method to recover your files, you would need to use some 3rd party recovery utility to see if it is possible to undelete and recover your files, and never recover files to the dame drive in case you overwrite any other files you are trying to recover.

If you want to re-install Windows 11 on that device, you will need to create a bootable Windows 11 USB on another working Windows PC.

You will need an empty 8GB USB flash drive.

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS) to begin installing Windows 11

During the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 11 on this PC'.
