I want to change my account's email adress

Just a heads up for anyone attempting to remove an alias to free it up for usage elsewhere.

I just tried this earlier today and ended up bricking the account. By removing the alias it does not exist to log in to (and may not be depending on how you redid your other primary alias) but also still exists when trying to update to an alias on another account.
I can only assume this is based on perhaps a 30-day period between when an account is set for "deletion" or no longer being an alias? However, there is no dedicated option to determine how long this could be or if its even the case.

Overall, be careful if doing this as there may be a timeout and does not work in real time. Make sure you can swap to a new alias with credentials that are working before removing an alias to free it up for another account.I'm currently on hour two of phone support attempting to delete my old account/alias overall to free it up for usage, but this may not be an acceptable solution for anyone that doesn't have an empty account like mine.

1. If your Microsoft account is tied to an old email address, you can add a new email alias (in this case, your Outlook address) to your account. Here’s how:

• Go to https://account.microsoft.com/ and sign in.
• Click on Your Info at the top of the page.
• Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
• Under Account Aliases, click Add Email.
• Add your new Outlook email address as an alias.
• After adding the alias, you’ll be able to use this new email as your primary one.

2. Once the new alias is added, set it as your primary email:

• Under Account Aliases, find the new Outlook alias you added.
• Click Make primary next to the new email.

3. Once you’ve set the new Outlook address as your primary email, you can remove the old one if you want:

• In the Account Aliases section, find your old email and click Remove.

Note: Microsoft may not allow you to remove the primary alias, so you'll need to ensure your new email is set as the primary first.

4. Delete the Old Email Address

Once the alias change is complete and the old email address is removed from the account, you can delete or deactivate the old email address as needed.

If you're receiving a message that the email address is already in use when attempting to add it as an alias in Outlook.com, it indicates that the address is associated with another Microsoft account. please check the following:

1. Ensure that you own the email address you’re trying to add. Check if it's already associated with another Microsoft account.

• To verify, try logging in with that email address at https://account.microsoft.com/

2. Check if the Email is Already an Alias

• Sign in to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/
• Navigate to Your Info > Account Info > Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
• Confirm if the email is already listed as an alias under this or another account. If yes, you'll need to remove it from the other account first.

Thanks for your reply Ahmed! I tried to add an Alias, but it says the email adress is already in use, and I can't add it. Is there any solution for this?
