I uninstalled my NVIDIA graphics driver on device manager, Please help!

Hi, I'm using a Dell laptop : Precision M4800, And It has a Nvidia Quadro k1100M graphics on it. I have been using a 2018 version of driver for this card for past past 3 years and I had no problem but recently I updated it to a 2020 version (The only latest driver available) and it had some problems with many applications and games.

Since I can't install any drivers using the .EXE files from Nvidia or the Nvidia applications because I always get an error saying (This graphics driver is not supported in your windows operating system) The only option to roll back the driver is to use the device manager and it shows the 2018 version driver there but it end in an error. When try to install it manually by extracting the .EXE file from Nvidia, it says that

'the best driver is already installed'

so every option to roll back or install any older driver is closed for me.

The real problem starts here, After that I tried to disable the graphics driver for some reason and I accidently uninstalled it.

Now I can't find my Nvidia graphics card on Device Manager, System Information or my BIOS. My device is now running on Inter HD Graphics. When I go to Device Manager> View> Show hidden devices, I can see the driver but it is greyed out and there is no enable option on it just 'Update driver and Uninstall driver.'

On properties of the graphics driver This is shown on the General tab as Driver Status :

'Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45), To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.' and the driver date is back to 2018 somehow.

But I can't seem to enable the driver.

  1. When I try to, Update Driver> Search automatically for drivers, it says.

'windows has successfully updated your driver - Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.'

  1. Tried, Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers, and chose the extracted .EXE file folder from Nvidia but it says

'Windows was unable to install your Nvidia Quadro K11000M, Windows could not find drivers for your device.'

  1. Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list....

It just shows me some Microsoft drivers and Intel driver not for Nvidia.

I know this is long but I wanted to write everything I have done for far. Please help.

    Sebinsd,

Yes, this tool will remove the currently selected GPU drivers and reboot your system. However, you should be able to reinstall the drivers after the reboot. Are you encountering any issues while installing the drivers?

Note - Here is the direct download link for your graphics driver. Clicking on this link will initiate the download for the drivers.

Install the Nvidia Quadro series Graphic -Driver and restart your computer. See if the driver is being detected.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

Thank you so much for taking your time to help me with this problem. This Nvidia installer worked perfectly and installed the 2018 driver.

Everything works as good as before and thank you so much!

I did this exactly following the instructions, It did detect my Quadro K1100M before running the software but after running and a restart It does not detect my graphics card anymore. Not only that, I can't see the K1100M graphics driver on device manager (when show hidden device ticked) anymore too.

And one thing to add that I mentioned it on the main question. I cannot run the .exe file from Nvidia to update the driver. It says

'this driver is not compatible with this version of windows, This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware'

And I already couldn't update it through the device manager before I uninstalled the driver because windows always says 'the best version is already installed', and now I can't try it because the driver does not exist anymore under 'Display Adapters' in device manager after I uninstalled it.

    Hello Sebinsd,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

Please use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) utility software to completely remove the NVIDIA graphics drivers from your PC. After that, you can reinstall your older version of the drivers.

You can download the DDU Utility from the link below.
    https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-...

Important - You will need to run the DDU software in safe mode.

Before Booting your PC in a safe mode environment, make sure you have the Quadro k1100M 2018 version (Driver) file on your device downloaded.

Then, boot your PC in a safe mode environment and run the tool.

Once the problematic driver has been removed, install the Quadro k1100M 2018 version driver and restart your computer. See if this resolves the issue.
