I was able to isolate the cause of the issue to a problem with the SSD I have in the computer, and once I applied the firmware fix from Western Digital: https://community.wd.com/t/critical-update-for-western-digital-and-sandisk-internal-ssds-that-can-cause-bsod-on-windows-11-24h2/298372 I was able to update to 2024.11 successfully. Given that the problem was due to a known issue with certain SSDs, why isn't Microsoft blocking updates to computers with these SSDs? If you're going to make the updates automatic and outside of my control, at least check to make sure my hardware doesn't have a known issue before forcing me to update.
2024.11 Update of Windows 11 24H2 Causing Endless BSOD On Loading
I've run into a problem with the latest update, which became available on my computer yesterday. After downloading the 2024.11 update of 24H2, my computer entered an endless cycle where the computer would crash shortly after getting past the login screen. It would always fail with a blue screen of death, with a stop code of CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.
Booting into recovery mode, I attempted to rollback the update, and wasn't able to. I also attempted to restore from a restore point, but every saved restore point on the computer would fail. I then tried to reset Windows on the PC which failed, and even when I allowed the computer to delete all my files for a completely fresh install of Windows, the reset of the operating system failed. I found myself unable to access the computer, and unable to rollback the update.
At this point, I tried doing a clean install of Windows. Using another computer I grabbed the latest installation media and did a clean install. Once again, the computer ended up in an endless crash loop where I could not rollback the updates, nor could I access the computer. At this point, I used Rufus to create an ISO boot drive of the 2024.10 update of 24H2 and installed that, which finally allowed me access to my computer again. This is after all of my files were deleted, and all of my backups lost as I did multiple installs of the operating system. Suffice it to say, I'm very frustrated about this outcome.
My system information is as follows:
MB - ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WIFI
GPU - RTX 4070 Super
CPU - Ryzen 7 7800X3D
SSD - Western Digital SN770 NVMe 2TB
Given that the issue persisted after a clean installation of Windows, I'm assuming the problem came about from some mismatch between the latest software update and the hardware in my computer. The computer has had no problems prior to this, and once I downgraded to an earlier version of 24H2 I was able to restore full functionality to my computer.
I have two questions about all of this. First, I'm wanting to know if this is a known issue, and if not how can I report it to the proper channels? Second, how can I prevent my computer from downloading the faulty 2024.11 update? I have updates paused on the working 2024.10 build currently running on my PC, but this isn't a permanent solution as Windows has the automatic update feature.
I'd appreciate any guidance I can get on this. It's been a frustrating problem to deal with, and I hope this didn't come across as too bitter about the situation. I just want to make sure this doesn't happen again to me or anyone else.

2024-11-15T20:16:36+00:00 What fix is there for those of us who are not this technically adept? I am not sure that I can isolate the problem in the same way, or find the specs for my SSD if that is the problem, let alone find a way to install it.
This has effectively turned my laptop into a brick, leaving me unable to work or communicate other than through a phone.
Please advise how to uninstall this update. Thank you.

2024-11-15T22:38:36+00:00 I am experiencing similar issues after applying new updates this month. Upon completing the updates and rebooting. I was able to log in for about 3-5 minutes until the laptop (Alienware m15 R3- PC711 NVMe SK hynix 512GB) decided to black screen until I hard reset it. Upon trying to boot back into the OS it black screened and started make 2 very odd beeping sounds one sounding like an arcade game the other sounding like a dumptruck backing up. It continued this for 5-10 minutes and eventually booted into the OS and was able to log. However, I am now experiencing some serious performance issues especially when gaming. To the point where it is not usable..
There are no current firmware updates for the drive mentioned above. PLEASE HELP.

The truth of the matter is more like; Microsoft doesn't give a dang. They are too big to care and have a sealed tight monopolyEvery update one of my computers has a crashing error. They all run the same software, same hardware. Two for my kids and two for us parents. Microsoft is junk and always has been, but we have no choice because Apple doesn't run nearly as much programs and linux is pretty much, well dead.

2024-11-16T23:37:07+00:00 Thank you so much for posting this! After letting my Win11 24H2 install do some Windows updates last night (in particular the 2024.11 Cumulative Update), today I was getting the exact same continuous BSODs upon loading into Windows. I tried to roll back to before the update but it didn't seem to help. Based on your tip I was eventually able to get into safe mode and update the firmware on my SanDisk 2TB NVMe SSD and this seems to have solved it.
