ALL MS Store updates are failing

Have you tried "Install WinGet on Windows Sandbox" that worked for me?

I uninstalled the latest updates, that did not help.

I tried using a retore point, and windows failed to restore, tried again, same result.

I then reset my pc (reinstalled windows keeping my files)

I was then seeing the store update correctly, so I have resolved the issue in this topic.

Thank you for your advice despite it ultimately not helping it was valuable to see if I had missed anything in my attempts to resolve the problem.

In case it may help other users, I then did the following.

After the pc reset (re-install) I was still unable to use winget.

I tried the powershell tip again and got the same error message as before.

I then followed the next step at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/package-manager/winget/

I installed winget under the windows sandbox method in powershell.

This has now resolved the original problem that I had before the MS Store issue, and I can once again use winget from CMD prompt.

I have a laptop that has not had winget fail (yet) and the ms store works fine on that.

I have tried all the suggested steps, when I try the powershell step to re-install Microsoft Store App I get the following window, and the store still fails - this has happened since 13/11/2024 - after several uses of the winget it suddenly stopped working and I started getting an error "The system cannot execute the specified program, it was in my efforts to fix that problem I found a answers page that pointed to my needing to check I had the latest version of the app installer, and it was at that point I ran into the store issue.

Press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the Run dialog box,

type wsreset.exe -i

and then select OK.

Note:

A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close, and Microsoft Store will open automatically.

**Check the Microsoft Store Install Service

Press the Windows Key + S and type in services.msc.

Find the Microsoft Store Install Service and double click, If the status is Running, right click it then select Restart

If disabled, change it to Automatic, click Start and click OK.

**Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.

After that, restart your computer

**Re-register and reinstall the Microsoft Store app

Press Windows key + X

Click and Run Windows PowerShell (Admin)

Copy and paste the command below then press Enter.

Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Restart your computer
