cannot mount windows 11 .iso . Commands to mount and disc image tools do not exist when right clicking .iso file

downloaded windows 11 .iso 23H2 . There is no way to verify since the SHA256 values published are for the older 22H2 version of windows 11 .

We are not allowed to select 22H2 version ?

I downloaded .iso directly from microsoft .

Anyway once I download .iso I cannot mount it anyplace . Right clicking .iso , "mount" does not exist as an option . None of of disc image tools

that are supposed to be there are present .

Most likely some buried and hidden setting we know nothing about . I have tried several videos to learn how to install this 100% awful operating system but they talk about right clicking and selecting commands which do not even exist !

double clicking windows .iso only results in PC asking me to choose method for opening file ?

file type for the windows .iso is VLC.iso

    Please try this fix → w10_iso_img_fix.reg. Also applies to Windows 11.

    Hi there,

    To mount the ISO or IMG file, right-click on the file, click "Show more options, select “Open with” and click “Windows Explorer.

    And to fix the ISO file association settings and restore "Mount" to the right-click menu, use the registry fix w10_iso_img_fix.zip

    Please open Command Prompt and run:

    reg query "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts.iso" /s

    reg query "HKCR.iso"

    reg query "HKCR\Windows.Isofile\shell" /s

    Post the output here.

    The reg file to restore the missing mount option no longer works.
