Whilst reading through an article on hacker dose, on a common redirection virus, they talk about using chrome policy remover to remove malicious browser extensions. However i have never heard of it before. Is it legitimate and safe?.

    Hi Dimploz, This is Ramesh.

I checked the Chrome Policy Remover batch file and found it to be safe. It removes all registry-based Chrome policies and resets the group policy files.

    Here's the batch file contents:

    Think twice.

First: Do you know for a fact that your browser has a malicious extension?

Second: I could not find this extension in the Chrome Web Store, so the extension has not been tested against Google's safeguards for inclusion in the Chrome Web Store.

Third: The extension has only garnered 69 'Likes' - that isn't a lot - and does not seem to have been updated since 2019.

    Personally, I would stay away.

The Chrome Policy Remover doesn't remove Brave policies because they're stored in a different branch.

    Reference:

By the way, the Farbar tool can be used to remove Brave/Chrome/Edge policies.

    Thank you

would this work on brave due to it using the same extension store as chrome and both being chromium based? or would it require a different method.
