I'm assuming by "AI" you are referring to a LLM, so I'm not sure what it means that "AI will be part of the Windows operating system going forward." Are you saying Windows users will have to communicate with a LLM to try to interact with the OS using an LLM, or is this something else? "AI" has been part of the operating system since its inception, but it's only in recent decades that it feels like a hostile user experience. It feels forced to thrust LLM software onto users unprompted.

The fact that you felt the need to replace Copilot with a ChatGPT app just shows how tone deaf you are in this thread. I'd reckon most of us don't want anything to do with these useless, notoriously unreliable, and environmentally destructive LLMs at all. It would be lilke forcing users to make purchases with crypto. But even so, if that's what you want, then go for it. What we take umbrage at is having an LLM installed on an OS at all. It's not "part of the OS," unless you can defend this by showing how the OS will be wholly reliant on having an LLM installed. My guess is that you're just parroting what Microsoft has said, which is an obvious lie. No OS will require an LLM inherently to operate, and if it does, it won't be a very popular one.

I've barely got an iron in the fire at this point since after seeing Windows 11 at work, I too will be joining the others in installing Linux on my last remaining 2 Windows PCs, having already installed it on the others and found it to be a far less user-hostile experience with greater ease of use and far more optimized, not to mention FOSS, with a friendly and helpful community of users.

But I just wanted to point out how wrong it is to try to claim that "AI" will be part of the OS going forward. I have seen no evidence whatsoever that Windows will require an LLM to use its OS and much evidence that it's instead trying to push yet another unwanted product onto users.

I'm sure my 80 year old mother is ecstatic to see an LLM app force-installed on her PC. I'll have to ask her.

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

If you have the Copilot app installed on your Windows 10 computer, you can uninstall it by going to Settings > Apps > Search for Copilot > Select it > Uninstall.

Just installed on my PC overnight and i still have remnants too, after removing. mS has forced my hand. My desktop was the last vestige of MS in this house, for gaming. But with this, its time to fully migrate to linux....

Utterly useless comment. Why bother "volunteering" if you're just going to intentionally aggravate already angry people?
