do you have Western Digital products in use and started associated tools?
The .WDC folder might have been created by those tools. At least from my own experience.

I have a file folder named .wdc in Windows 11 File Explorer. I'm wondering what it is, if it is safe, and whether I should delete it. Thanks

That folder is not documented, it may belong to some security software, please provide a screenshot of File Explorer showing the contents of that folder and also the address bar at the top showing the exact location of that folder.
