Windows Update breaking Intel Graphics Drivers

Hi there,

Windows Update keeps reverting my Intel Graphics drivers to a particular version that was released in 2020 - 27.20.100.8935, even though I keep installing a later version.

An example below: On 29th November, Windows Update reverted by drivers to an old version. You can see by the date timestamp on the taskbar clock that I repaired it by manually installing the drivers.

However, today - Windows Update overrode the newer version and reinstalled the old one:

I really need this to be stopped or fixed, because it is becoming really annoying having to constantly download the latest drivers to repair this problem.

Your (collective) help is much appreciated!

Kind Regards,

Johan

I recommend reporting the issue through the Feedback Hub app to notify Microsoft.

How to Report Issues with Intel:registered: Driver & Support Assistant (Intel:registered: DSA)

Thanks John, much appreciated. How do I report this issue to both Microsoft and Intel for long term resolution?

Thanks Brandon, much appreciated for your quick response!

However, this seems like a short term fix - I need a long term fix! Surely Microsoft and Intel must rectify this properly!

Hi, good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

Please check if you can still use the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the driver update. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try hiding the Intel Corporation - Display driver update that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.

I have the same problem with Intel graphics driver. You need to block Windows Update from updating the graphics driver. I've used https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjVYLGw0OBWU4C4gX-9Vp0jrZhFz?e=pN2XUh to block it. When you know there's a new version, I use https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjVYLGw0OBWU4C897Tcqe-ZIeoFQ?e=6FXw79 to be able to install the update. Once the update is installed use the first link to block it again before restarting your PC.
