24H2 Update and AutoCAD R2012 E-Transmit

Previous to the 24H2 update on Windows 11, one could "E-Transmit" a drawing from the print menu in AutoCAD. Essentially, it would make a ZIP file of the drawing information including things like fonts, plot tables, xrefs, etc. Since installing the update the AutoCAD program will go through the paces of creating that ZIP file, but the file never appears in the hard-drive folder. I've even done searches for the known file name with no success. I've done searches by date and time, also with no success. This is a vital part of drawing production. Does anyone know what the issue is or how to resolve it?

    Dear bhernandez007

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

The problem described may be related to system permissions, path settings, or AutoCAD compatibility after the Windows 11 2H24 update. Below are some possible causes and solutions to help you resolve the issue of AutoCAD not generating ZIP files.

    Check File Save Path

Recheck the destination folder path for the Electronic Transfer feature in AutoCAD:

    Open AutoCAD.

When using the e-Transfer feature, double check that the save path is correct.

Make sure the destination folder is a valid path and that you have write permissions.

AutoCAD may temporarily save files to the system temporary folder. You can try the following steps:

Press Win + R, type %TEMP% and press Enter.

Search for the relevant ZIP file in the temporary folder.

If you find the file, you can move it to another folder.

    Run AutoCAD as Administrator

If permissions issues are preventing file generation, try running AutoCAD as an administrator:

Right click on the AutoCAD icon.

    Select “Run as Administrator”.

Try using the Electronic Transfer feature again.

Check for anti-virus or security software

Some anti-virus software may prevent AutoCAD from writing files.

You can either: temporarily disable the anti-virus software or add AutoCAD to the anti-virus software's whitelist. Try generating the ZIP file again.

Try removing a third-party antivirus program for testing.

Disclaimer: Temporarily turn off antivirus protection. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn it on immediately once issue fixed.

    Running AutoCAD in Compatibility Mode

If the problem persists, try setting AutoCAD to run in compatibility mode:

Right click on the AutoCAD shortcut and select Properties.

    Go to the Compatibility tab.

Check “Run this program in compatibility mode” and select an earlier version of Windows (e.g. Windows 7).

    Click Apply and restart AutoCAD.

    Contact Autodesk Support

If the issue remains unresolved, it is recommended that you contact Autodesk Technical Support. They may have already received reports of similar problems and may be able to provide more specific solutions

    Best Wish
