[FIXED] Unable to install Epic Online Services - EOS-ERR-1603

READ THE FIRST REPLY FOR THE FIX

I'm not able to install the Epic Games Online Services using any methods (EOS-ERR-1603). Here are some of the things I tried:

  1. Restarting
  2. Installing it via the launcher
  3. Installing it using EpicOnlineServices.exe
  4. Granting all possible rights to myself to these files using "Properties"
  5. Creating an "Epic Online Services" folder
  6. Reinstalling the Epic Games Launcher
  7. Cleaning every trace of Epic Games on my computer using Everything
  8. Reinstalling .NET Framework 3.5
  9. Downloading the C and C# SDKs from the official website and pasting them in the root folder
  10. Redownloading the installer from the official website

Two things of notice:

  1. I don't have an EpicOnlineServices.MSI file, but an EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.EXE one
  2. I had to install the launcher itself using cmd: msiexec /i (and then the path to the .msi launcher installation file). Normally I'd get an error while installing saying "The Epic Games Installer ended prematurely"
  3. When I manually create the Epic Online Services folder in C:/Program Files (x86)/Epic Games and try installing them in the launcher or directly, the installation fails, and the folder disappears
  4. When I try installing it directly (using EpicOnlineServices.exe), the loading bar goes until the end but then starts going back and the window closes itself. Nothing changes

Could this be a bug in the newest EpicInstaller-17.2.0.msi installer? I had no issues previously.

My friends, I just found an easy solution to all of this:

Epic Games Store - Download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

I wish I knew there was a Microsoft Store version earlier, it would have spared myself of a lot of headache.

Upon installing it (which ran normally, without the use of cmd), the Epic Online Services worked instantly. I was even prompted for an update!

I hope this helps someone out there.

Love you. Been messing around with multiple Reddit posts and YouTube videos. Nothing worked until I tried this.

Wanna point out as well that you must uninstall the normal version first, then install the MS Store one.

    Hey,

Just use the Microsoft Store version of the Epic Games Store (link is in the first reply)

Also, BEFORE you install it from the MS Store, uninstall the original Epic Games Store. Thanks for Juan Torres for highlighting this!
