Have you tried installing via the "Snipping Tool Windows 64-bit" installer provided at this link?

A few weeks ago I began having a problem with the Snipping Tool.
Instead of its usual cursor icon, I got an icon with a pair of scissors when I ran the snipping tool. And when I used that icon to select what I wanted to snip, I got a snip that was only half of what I selected.
The only information I could find was to uninstall the snipping tool, then reinstall it. I successfully uninstalled, but I cannot find out how to reinstall.
[One set of instructions I found suggested that the snipping tool was part of Paint - I uninstalled/reinstalled Paint, but that did not help. Other instructions suggested I download the "app" from the MIcrosoft store: the only Snipping Tool app I could find was for Windows 11.]
My original desktop shortcut for the Snipping Tool pointed to %windir%\system32\SnippingTool.exe - which, of course, no longer exists.
[I'm not confident about my selection of a "Topic" for this question; I just guessed.]
Can anyone give me the step-by-step instructions for reinstalling the snipping tool for Windows 10 Pro (64 bit)?
Thank you.

"Have you tried installing via the "Snipping Tool Windows 64-bit" installer ....".
I'm pretty sure that is what I did try - but after the install completed, I could not find the .exe file.
Found this on the internet:
"On a 64-bit Windows system, the Snipping Tool is located in the 'C:\Windows\Sysnative\System32' folder, accessible through the "Sysnative" virtual folder which acts as a link to the 64-bit "System32" directory; essentially, the full path is 'C:\Windows\Sysnative\System32\SnippingTool.exe'".
Never could find that .exe file.
So today I tried using the 32bit installer. I was able to find the in installed Snipping Tool here: C:\Windows\System32\SnippingTool.exe.
That .exe file seems to work (it produces the Snipping Tool window with the "New" option. Clicking New creates a cursor that looks like a plus sign (rather than the scissors I had been getting recently). The Snipping Tool is now working as it did before my problem began.
Thank you for trying to help. Your post pointed out to me that there was a 32bit installer available, which I did not notice before.
The scannow ran very quickly. The RestoreHealth ran for over 45 minutes and did nothting - after which I shut it down; then logged back into my regular Windows account (which has Admin priveledges).
How long is the "some time" that a RestoreHealth should take?
I have no useful software running in my PC Admin account, so I couldn't figure out how to capture the results of the scannow to post here. But the output didn't appear to have any "results": just explanations of, what appear to be, various scannow options.
Hello,
Please open a Command Prompt (as admin) and running sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, pushing enter after each command. Both commands will take some time, so it's best to do it while you're not actively doing anything (although you can still use the computer).
Hope to hear back from you.
