Hello XHA925 and welcome to the Microsoft Community!
According to your feedback, you are experiencing an issue where the GPU fan does not rotate sometimes.
There are several things you can do to troubleshoot this issue.
- Check temperature and fan settings: Sometimes, the GPU fan will only start when the temperature reaches a certain threshold.
You can use GPU driver software (e.g. NVIDIA control panel) or third-party tools (e.g. HWMonitor) to monitor the GPU temperature.
If the temperature is below 50°C, the fan may not spin.
- Clean the fan and heat sink: Dust may prevent the fan from functioning properly.
Make sure there is no dust buildup on the fan and heat sink. You can use compressed air to clean them.
- Update drivers: Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.
You can visit NVIDIA's official website to download the latest drivers.
- Check the fan connection: Make sure that the fan is firmly connected. If the fan connection is loose, it may cause the fan not to spin.
You can try re-plugging the fan connector.
- Adjust the fan curve: In some graphics card management software, you can manually adjust the fan curve to make sure the fan starts even at lower temperatures.
You can set this in software like NVIDIA control panel or MSI Afterburner.
- Check the power supply unit (PSU): Make sure your PSU is able to provide enough power, especially at high loads.
If possible, try replacing the PSU to rule out power issues.
- Contact graphics card support
With the above methods, it is not possible to completely rule out if the fault is caused by the graphics card itself
Therefore, if the above doesn't solve your problem, then you can contact your computer's official graphics card support.
I wish you all the best in this special season - may your holidays be merry and bright! Merry Christmas!
