I have a Dell Laptop and is also getting the fans issue. It does not happen all the time, but it could run a substantial period of time at random during the day. I installed all updates from Microsoft and Dell and initially thought the problem was resolved until this afternoon when it happened again.

Surely, we are not unique, and this is an issue experienced by numerous people, and I need to get some definite answers before my laptop gets issues.

Have same issue here. My CPU usage when doing nothing went from 1% to 6-9% after I installed 24h2. (Ryzen 7 8845hs)

I installed back the old version and everything is okay again. I recommend you doing the same, until they fix this mess. (if so) ;)

Still, not solved the problem. And I can't Reinstall the windows, because my study materials are in this PC. Like Virtual machine, Notes from external source and college experiments.. And I already cleaned the Fan dust about 2 months ago

I can't goback prior to the update. It was working fine yesterday, kinda, and now it overheats if I just move the mouse too much. It jumps from 95f to 212f just by moving the mouse. System is taking a 8% and greater cpu and I don't know what it is doing. I have automatic updates turned off on all my apps and manually checked them for updates. There is no drivers update.

fyi, I use NVIDIA Drivers on my Alienware computer and they're up to date.

Since the update to 24H2 I have had exactly the same problem and simply cannot find a solution.

You can see in the ProcessExplorer that the NT kernel with 3 threads, 2 cores (R7 5800x) is fully utilised

What have I tried so far

    • Drivers/firmware are up to date
    • All software was completely uninstalled for testing
    • All non MS processes terminated or the autostart
      prevented

When I restore the backup of 23H2 everything runs perfectly.
