My wifi status says 'No Internet' but I can access internet via browsers including Edge (Version 126.0.2592.113 (Official build) (64-bit)) where I am submitting this question from. However I cannot access Microsoft Store, Microsoft 365, and I am suspecting other products are unable to access the internet. I also cannot sign in for Windows Update (maybe a good thing :) ) not can I sign in for Rewards in the settings section which require microsoft login - see below

I have tried troubleshooting but keep getting the message in the subject of this question. See below.https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/e8e809cc-1d3d-42eb-97d1-e8bdf59773b9?platform=QnA"https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/50ab12c5-3607-46e4-b4bb-404dadfd220d?platform=QnA" title="filestore.community.support.microsoft.com" rel="ugc nofollow">

I have tried Netwrok reset, Changing Private to Public Network, Disabling VM Networks, Changing the Registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet) with different DNS and following config. I have tried most of the solution in this thread (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-shows-no-internet-access-but-my-internet/2e9b593f-c31c-4448-b5d9-6e6b2bd8560c?page=1)

I have tried different Wifi connections. All other devices and computers work fine, therefore no issue with router or ISP.

Only clue I have is, when connecting to wifi initially, I get 'http://www.msftconnecttest.com/redirect' see below, with K9 Web Protection redirect page. This was a software that was used for web protection many years ago. It was treat until the product was no longer available. Tried uninstalling, but would require password. I have forgotten the password, therefore had to remove the files manually.

I am not sure if this is anything to do with K9 Web protect as it would require me to log in into the application (to confirm and continue) when the internet gets blocked too many times due to black listed web pages.

Now I am not sure if the K9 Web Protection got triggered due to too many blocks caused by Windows updates or the other way round, i.e. K9 remnant files, setting, cookies whatever you may call it is blocking the access. Having said that I can access internet via browsers no issues, its the applications that are not accessing the internet.

if it is due to K9 how do i completely uninstall/remove it without password? or is it something else. I have been having this issue since beginning of 2024, had enough! any advice, suggestions would be great!

    Thank you for your reply.

After you have uninstalled the program pro with Revo, manually delete C:\Windows\System32\drivers\bckd.sys

After uninstalling the program, reboot your computer and see what happens.

If the problem still exists after uninstalling the program, you may want to create a new account to test it.

Create a new account and try it out.

    1. Search for CMD, then run it in administrator mode and enter the following commands

    net user USERNAME PASSWORD /add

    1. After the command runs successfully, enter the following command

    net localgroup administrators USERNAME /add

Note: USERNAME PASSWORD can be replaced with your desired account name and password, if you do not need a password you can not fill in the PASSWORD.

Thank you for your prompt response. This problem started only recently sprint 2024. BIOS version dates back 2023 - not sure if it would be the BIOS? Should I still roll back the BIOS?

In regards to the other suggestions - Unfortunately no change.

    Registery updated

    Thank you for your reply.

You can also try the following

First of all, you need to roll back your computer's bios again.

You can go to the brand's website and search for the bios driver to rollback.

Then, just in case, you can try to make the following changes to the K9 Filter program.

I think that even though you wrote in this program, there is no way to rule out that it is not related to this program.

So you can see if there are still remnants of the uninstallation.

    You can do the following

    1. Open the “Registry Editor” (press Win + R, type regedit and press Enter).
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and delete the registry entries related to K9 Filter. 3. Manually delete the C:\file and the K9 Filter entries.
    3. Manually delete the folder related to K9 Filter in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86).

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click How to back up and restore the registry in Windows - Microsoft Support to view the article.

    Then reboot and try again.

    Hi Kirito

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately the result has been the same. I have removed the K9 Filter program using Revo uninstaller Pro. It seems to have removed it as the program is no longer visible for deletion.

    Result of the following methods have been as follows - see screenshot;

    Method 3;

    Image

    Image

    Image

After restart, there was a glimpse of 'Connected' status in the taskbar, then it reverted back to 'No Internet' after 30-60secs

    Method 4 - Proxy Settings

    Image

No Change - even after restart

    Method 5 - Change DNS

    Image

No Change - even after restart

Method 6 - Open firewall Note: I do not have 3rd Party Firewalls

    Image

    Image

No Change - even after restart. Note Ihave tried these firewall changes previosuly.

    Final Test Result/Conclusion

I continue to get the following when I open the browser - but with internet access.

Any other or follow up suggestions would be great.

Thank you for all your support to date.

Hello UstadFarhad and welcome to the Microsoft Community!

According to your feedback, you are experiencing issues with your computer showing no internet and not being able to use the web in your application

I also see that you are considering whether this is related to residual K9 Web Protection.

We can't rule out whether this is the cause or not.

However, we can give you some ways to eliminate the problem.

Method 1: Uninstall K9 Web Protection completely.

Since you don't have a password, we suggest you try the following methods to uninstall K9 Web Protection completely:

Use a third-party uninstallation tool to perform a forced uninstallation

Method 2: Manually delete residual files and registry entries

    1. Delete the residual files:

Open File Explorer, navigate to the following path and delete the related folders:

    C:\Program Files\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection

    C:\ProgramData\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection

    1. Clean up the registry:

Press Win + R, type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.

    1. Navigate to the following path and delete the relevant entries:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blue Coat

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blue Coat

Note: Modifying the registry is risky, make sure you backup the registry to prevent problems.

    Method 3: Reset Network Settings

Open Command Prompt (run as administrator):

Press Win + X and select “Command Prompt (Administrator)” or “Windows PowerShell (Administrator)”.

Enter the following command and press Enter:

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh winhttp reset proxy

Restart the computer and see if the problem is solved.

    Method 4: Check proxy settings

    1. Open Internet Options:

Press Win + R, type inetcpl.cpl and press Enter.

    1. Check the proxy settings:

Click the “Connections” tab, and then click “LAN Settings”.

Ensure that “Use proxy server for LAN” is unchecked.

Click “OK” and restart your computer.

    Method 5: Change DNS server

    1. Open Network Connection Settings:

Press Win + R, type ncpa.cpl and press Enter.

Select the currently connected network, right-click and select “Properties”.

    1. Double click on “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”:

Select “Use the following DNS server address”.

Set the preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and the alternate DNS server to 8.8.4.4.

Click OK and restart your computer.

Method 6: Check Firewall and Security Software

Temporarily disable the third-party firewall or security software to see if the problem is solved.

Ensure that the Windows Firewall allows Microsoft services:

Open Control Panel and select System and Security > Windows Firewall.

Click on “Allow apps or features through Windows Firewall” to ensure that the Microsoft Store and other related services are allowed through the firewall.

Disclaimer: Perform the following steps to temporarily turn off antivirus protection in your protection software to help you find the cause of your problem, but remember that turning off this feature may leave your device vulnerable to threats. Please turn on your protection software as soon as the problem is resolved.

We hope you find this information helpful!
