Hello UstadFarhad and welcome to the Microsoft Community!
According to your feedback, you are experiencing issues with your computer showing no internet and not being able to use the web in your application
I also see that you are considering whether this is related to residual K9 Web Protection.
We can't rule out whether this is the cause or not.
However, we can give you some ways to eliminate the problem.
Method 1: Uninstall K9 Web Protection completely.
Since you don't have a password, we suggest you try the following methods to uninstall K9 Web Protection completely:
Use a third-party uninstallation tool to perform a forced uninstallation
Method 2: Manually delete residual files and registry entries
- Delete the residual files:
Open File Explorer, navigate to the following path and delete the related folders:
C:\Program Files\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection
C:\ProgramData\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection
- Clean up the registry:
Press Win + R, type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to the following path and delete the relevant entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blue Coat
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blue Coat
Note: Modifying the registry is risky, make sure you backup the registry to prevent problems.
Method 3: Reset Network Settings
Open Command Prompt (run as administrator):
Press Win + X and select “Command Prompt (Administrator)” or “Windows PowerShell (Administrator)”.
Enter the following command and press Enter:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
netsh winhttp reset proxy
Restart the computer and see if the problem is solved.
Method 4: Check proxy settings
- Open Internet Options:
Press Win + R, type inetcpl.cpl and press Enter.
- Check the proxy settings:
Click the “Connections” tab, and then click “LAN Settings”.
Ensure that “Use proxy server for LAN” is unchecked.
Click “OK” and restart your computer.
Method 5: Change DNS server
- Open Network Connection Settings:
Press Win + R, type ncpa.cpl and press Enter.
Select the currently connected network, right-click and select “Properties”.
- Double click on “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”:
Select “Use the following DNS server address”.
Set the preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and the alternate DNS server to 8.8.4.4.
Click OK and restart your computer.
Method 6: Check Firewall and Security Software
Temporarily disable the third-party firewall or security software to see if the problem is solved.
Ensure that the Windows Firewall allows Microsoft services:
Open Control Panel and select System and Security > Windows Firewall.
Click on “Allow apps or features through Windows Firewall” to ensure that the Microsoft Store and other related services are allowed through the firewall.
Disclaimer: Perform the following steps to temporarily turn off antivirus protection in your protection software to help you find the cause of your problem, but remember that turning off this feature may leave your device vulnerable to threats. Please turn on your protection software as soon as the problem is resolved.
We hope you find this information helpful!
