So like are you able to "freeze" the screen of the external display, so that I can continue using the laptop without having the screen of external display changing, so I can freeze an image on my monitor while using my pc? ( Not looking for lock screen/ take screenshot answers as my dog could figure that out. )

    Hello, RVX

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have carefully read the information and problem description you provided.

I understand the problem and what you are looking for.

If you set the display method of the screen to extended, this seems to meet some of your needs. After setting it to extended, your second screen will only display your desktop wallpaper, but other screens cannot be frozen. If you need to display other screens on the second screen, unfortunately, this is not possible. Windows does not provide a direct "freeze" function for the screen content of the external monitor.

As far as I know, there are some third-party software that can meet your needs, but due to the rules of the forum, I cannot provide the names of these software. You can search for related content on Google to find them.

I hope this helps you. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas filled with joy and warmth!

    Best regards

    Hello,
“FreeZe” is a small portable program, that freezes the presentation monitor on a 2-monitor system via hotkey (default: CTRL-SHIFT-Z).
It can be downloaded here: http://www.freeze-screen.com
    Bruno

PS:Your web browser may flag FreeZe as a potential virus or malware. This is because the program is new and currently does not have an established reputation.

Download: Click 'Keep' to save the file (in browsers like Chrome or Edge).
Installation: Click 'More info' and then 'Run anyway'.

I appreciate you getting straight to the point I guess your answer kind of works not in the way I intended but at least its some what use able and allows me to freeze the screen just have to change desktop backgrounds regularly I guess till I find a better way of doing this.

Hopefully this becomes possible in later updates...
