HP Elitebook 840 G5 track pad not working correctly ..............

Hello,

My HP Elitebook is running Win11 24H2 OS Build 26100.2454.

My trackpad has all of a sudden stopped working correctly. Some functions are still available but other functions are not. No software update in the last few days. Trackpad was working great until today.

I have to tried many of the various online trouble shooting methods, but nothing has fixed the issue yet.

I've tried many of the various HP software tools to remedy my issue and still no go.

Any suggests greatly appreciated. I'm a moderator level PC user.

Thank you, for the update. Yes, the buttons were swapped due to the setting.

Weird that it got changed without intervention.

    The easiest possible way is to type main.cpl and then pressing {Space} >> {Enter}

Nevertheless, I will recommend you to keep watching and let me know if it happens again.

Here are my current settings for my trackpad.

Do I just uncheck the button configure settings? Thanks.

Thanks Sean. Yes it is possible due to a setting. Let us check that.

Press the Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.

    Type main.cpl

    Press Enter.

Are the Switch primary and secondary buttons turned ON?

Thanks for getting back to me.

When I right click the start menu I now get the listing of all the "Pinned" page instead of all the system tools listings as would be expected

When I left click the Start menu I get the list of system tools.

It seems like my cursor is doing the opposite of what it should be doing. Right click equals a left click result and visa versa. Is this possible?

I hope my questions/answers/information makes sense.

    See my attached requested screenshots.
