I have been getting error code 0x80070246 since June on ALL of my updates in Windows 11. I have tried so many different options that I have seen online but nothing is fixing it. I have ran the sfc scanner in regular and safe mode and it says it has found corrupt files but is unable to fix them. I have tried to download the updates manually but that does not work either. Am I stuck doing a full re-install of Windows??

Ok, in that case, please try Option 2 if you wish to upgrade to 24H2 using the 24H2 ISO.

Or, if you need the 23H2 ISO, first, download the official ESD from this link:

    http://dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com/filestreami... (23H2 - English United States ISO)

After downloading the ESD, it has to be converted to ISO using DISM++ or a similar third-party tool.

    Hi Michael,

Please choose one of these options.

    Option 1: Upgrading to 23H2

    *********************************

Please run "winver.exe" and note the OS build number.

If your Windows 11 version is "22H2" and the build number is higher than "22621.2506", you can install the enablement package, which easily upgrades the OS to 23H2.

    https://catalog.sf.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com...

    Option 2: Upgrading to 24H2

    *********************************

    1. Download Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT) from this link:

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2156295

    1. Run MCT and download the ISO it recommends for your system. Do *not* uncheck "Use the recommended options for this PC".
    2. Right-click on the downloaded ISO and choose "Mount." This assigns the ISO a drive letter.
    3. Run setup.exe from the ISO drive. This starts the in-place upgrade/repair installation.

(Your files, settings and applications will be preserved if you use the ISO recommended for your system by the Media Creation Tool.)

    Note:

24H2 is still a bit buggy, and users are reporting installation failures, crashes, network issues, and performance issues, especially during gaming. I'd suggest delaying the 24H2 update for a few months.

23H2 is more stable and supported until November 2025, so it's safe to use.

    Hi Michael, This is Ramesh.

If you're using Windows 11 23H2, please use the repair feature in Settings.

    See:

Fix issues by reinstalling the current version of Windows - Microsoft Support:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix...

For versions earlier than 23H2, a repair installation can be done using the ISO. Let me know which version of Windows 11 you're using.
