    Hello,

Dismounting a drive is perfectly okay, especially if you are in the recovery environment.

Just push Y for that command and let chkdsk scan for errors.

I would recommend you do chkdsk C: /r instead of /f so that is fixes bad blocks as well.

Let me know how this goes.

    Hi Dawwid,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

I'm not so sure, but I believe the C drive is pointing to the WinRE partition(WinRE is also an OS, but technically, it's a very tiny one), which also runs with its own C drive.

    To answer your question:

    1. Yes, it is perfectly safe to force dismount.
    2. After this command, ensure to run

    chkdsk D: \f

as well. It ensures the actual OS drive is also scanned as well, in case my assumption is true.

I look forward to your response and am eager to collaborate until we find a solution.
