2024-12-03T02:43:08+00:00 Windows 11 S mode only allows apps from the Microsoft Store, so you can’t install Office 2016 directly.
If you want to install it, you’d need to switch out of S mode. Alternatively, you could use Office 365 online or a version available in the Store.
Let me know if you need more info.

2024-12-03T02:42:28+00:00 Thank you for this reply. I had read all about S mode, and warnings that there is "no going back". I was interested in S mode security eliminating the need for virus/malicious infection avoidance. Also, having read, and now have one, there is a McAfee concomitant program. I do hope that is subscription free, and not a necessary component after exiting S mode!

Unfortunately, there's no way to install the Office 2016 in an S mode Windows 11, which prohibits app installation outside of the Microsoft Store.
Here are the benefits of S mode you may consider before switching out of it:
- App Restrictions: S mode only allows apps from the Microsoft Store, which are vetted for security. This reduces the risk of downloading and installing malicious software.
- Browser Security: Microsoft Edge is the default browser, providing a secure browsing experience with built-in protections.
- Limited Access: S mode restricts access to certain system settings and features, reducing the attack surface for malware and other threats.
- Automatic Updates: Security updates are automatically applied, ensuring your system is always protected with the latest patches.
Since these are primarily restrictions to prevent the installation of malicious applications, you can manually limit your device by setting app installations to only allow downloads from the Microsoft Store after switching out of S mode. In this way, you'll be able to install Office 2016 and get the same benefit of security from S mode.

If you prefer to stay in S mode, your only option is to use Office Online. These are web-based versions of Office apps which you can access through your browser.
