Epson Perfection V39II not working after Windows upgrade to version 24H2

Hi,

My Nucbox G5 mini PC was running Windows 11 version 23H2, had some glitches, so had a complete reset of my PC. After reset, I upgraded to version 24H2 and connected my USB Epson Perfection V39II Scanner. Unfortunately, after installing the upgrade and the device driver provided by Epson, the EpsonScan 2 application as well as the Epson ScanSmart application is not working.

When I start the EpsonScan 2 application, I get the following pop-up messages.

es2launcher.exe - System Error

The code execution cannot proceed because mfc100u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this.

es2launcher.exe - System Error

The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR100.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this.

es2launcher.exe - System Error

The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP100.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this.

When I start the EpsonScan 2 application, I get the following pop-up messages.

ES2ProjectRunner.exe - System Error

The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR100.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this.

ES2ProjectRunner.exe - System Error

The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP100.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver as well as the software few times, but it is of no use.

I checked the folder C:\windows\system32 and in the folder the two files MSVCR100.dll and MSVCP100.dll are already present only the mfc100u.dll file is missing. As a double check, I checked the folder from my previous installation (windows.old folder) whether the files were present in the earlier installation, here too the mfc100u.dll is missing and the other two files are available.

But the scanner works with Microsoft Scan application, would appreciate some help fixing this issue.

Thanks

    @ Ramesh Srinivasan

Thanks for the reply. Tried your suggestion, unable to install both the files, getting application error message.

    vcredist_x64.exe - Application Error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.

    vcredist_x86.exe - Application Error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.

Same error for both the installations!.

    Hope this information is helpful.

Please run a ProcMon trace and share the zipped log on OneDrive.

    1. Download Process Monitor from Microsoft: http://live.sysinternals.com/procmon.exe
    2. Launch Process Monitor.
    3. Reset the filter options and click OK.
    4. If tracing does not start automatically, press Ctrl + E.
    5. Run "vcredist_x64.exe".
    6. When it generates an error, switch to Process Monitor and stop tracing (Ctrl + E).
    7. Save "All Events" in a PML log file.
    8. *Zip* the log file and upload it to your OneDrive.

The PML log size will be huge. Zipping it reduces the size by 90%.

A DLL failed to initialize. Please run DISM and SFC.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/topic/use-t...

If that doesn't help, repair install Windows 11.

    1. Download Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT) from this link:

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2156295

    1. Run MCT and download the ISO it recommends for your system. Do *not* uncheck "Use the recommended options for this PC".
    2. Right-click on the downloaded ISO and choose "Mount." This assigns the ISO a drive letter.
    3. Run setup.exe from the ISO drive. This starts the in-place upgrade/repair installation.

(Your files, settings and applications will be preserved if you use the ISO recommended for your system by the Media Creation Tool.)

    Hi, This is Ramesh.

Please download and install both x86 and x64 versions of the Visual C++ 2010 redist package.

Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from Official Microsoft Download Center:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/detail...

Download vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe and install them.
