I am trying to burn an audio CD. According to the software I'm using, it says it burned the cd with no errors but when I try and play it, it doesn't play and says the cd is blank. I have tried a couple programs for burning and keep getting the same result.

I finally got a CD to burn and was able to play it back on my computer. I think one of the problems was one of the software programs I was using. There was an updated version which I bought and then was able to burn my CD. I haven't tried burning a CD with itunes or Windows Media player. The software that worked is one that I use for editing audio and I can play it back in itunes or Windows Media Player.

Is there an option in your burning software to burn CDs at a slower speed? Sometimes, burning at a slower speed (like 4x or 8x) can help prevent issues with playback.

Also, have you tried testing the CD on a regular CD player or another device to see if it plays there? It could help rule out any problems with the drive on your computer.

I have tried 3 different brands of CD-R cds and get the same results each time. I have also tried to burn a CD from my itunes library, Windows Media Player Legacy, and 2 different software programs that edit audio and then have the option to burn the audio on a CD. The software is Vegas Pro 22 and Sound Forge studio 17. None of what I've been using has allowed me to burn a cd and then play it but the 3 software programs all say the CD burned with no errors. Windows Media Player legacy said there was some issue with the song and wouldn't burn it at all.

I'm using an external CD/DVD rom that works when I need to open any cds and I've tried to update the driver but it says the best driver is already installed.

Hi, I’m Vinay. Thanks for reaching out.

I’m here to help you today.

Make sure that CD is not physically damaged . Even minor scratches can prevent the CD from playing properly.

Make sure that CD was finalised during burning process.Check your burning software settings to make sure the CD was finalised. Without finalization, CD might not be readable by other devices.

Test the CD in another CD player or computer to check if it’s truly blank or if the issue is with your drive.

    Regards,

    Vinay

    Hey there!

A few things could be causing it:

If you're using a CD-RW (rewritable CD), some older drives or players might not read them properly. Try switching to a regular CD-R instead. Also, burning at high speeds (like 24x or 32x) can sometimes cause issues, so try lowering the speed to 4x or 8x and see if that helps.

Make sure your software is set to burn an audio CD, not just a data CD, since some programs default to data mode. If you're using an older or lower-quality CD drive, it might not handle certain CDs well, so trying a different drive could help.

Lastly, it could be worth testing with a different brand of CD, since sometimes a batch can be defective.

Let me know what software and CD type you're using if the problem continues, and we can dig into it further!
