Windows 11, Dell G15 5525, touchpad is not working. No touchpad driver is installed

I've been having this issue on and off, usually fixable by reinstalling the touchpad driver in the device manager. The touchpad driver however does not exist anymore, and therefore I can't reinstall it. I tried going to dell support to search for drivers, but there are no existing touchpad drivers available that are compatible with my windows version, for some reason. When I go to the Drivers & Downloads section of the dell support page, and try to search for "mouse, keyboard, and input drivers," that category does not exist.

There is no driver that appears in the device manager even when selecting "show hidden devices."

    Hello,

Please go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Additional options and under Additional options should be a button that says "Optional updates". Click that, and install the optional updates. One or more of them could be your touchpad driver that you are looking for.

Hope to hear back from you.

Thank you for checking that and letting me know.

I see. Can you run the hardware diagnostics and try enabling and disabling the touchpad using the keyboard hotkey? You can follow the steps outlined here: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000123...

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Emily!

I'm John, I'm here to help you with this. Normally, I’d recommend downloading the touchpad driver directly from the manufacturer’s support page for your specific model. However, I checked the Dell support page, and it seems there’s no dedicated touchpad driver available for your system. It’s possible that Microsoft automatically updates touchpad software through Windows Update.

    Here’s what I recommend trying:

    Run Windows Update:

    > Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

If there's no driver update, please check in optional updates.

    > Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.

If there's none, can you share me the drive in Device Manager?

Please open Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + X, then click "Device Manager"

    > If you don’t see the touchpad driver, click the "View" tab at the top and select "Show hidden devices" to check again.

    > Right-click on it and select "Properties"

    > Please attach those screenshots in your next response.

Click "Reply" below to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
