I changed the "choose one app to show detailed status on the lock screen" in settings/personalization/lock screen to say none and the widgets disappeared.
Lock screen status option missing in settings
After applying a Windows update today I am suddenly getting the weather/markets/traffic/on this day widgets on my lock screen. I want to turn these off. On-line instructions say to set the "lock screen status" option in settings/personalization/lock screen to none. I do not have this option.

2024-12-12T09:47:19+00:00 Hello, taherte
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
Thank you for your feedback and it's good to know that you've found a way to turn off the widget on your lock screen. Here are a few suggestions to help you more fully resolve the issue should you encounter a similar problem:
Although you've successfully turned off the lock screen widget by changing the “Detailed status apps” option, make sure of the following key settings:
Lock Screen Detailed Status App Settings:
Make sure the Detailed Status Apps setting is set to None.
Open Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
Under Select apps to show detailed status on the lock screen, select None.
Lock screen quick status app settings:
Make sure the Quick Status Apps setting is also set to None to ensure that no other unnecessary information is displayed.
Under “Select apps to show quick status on lock screen”, set all apps to “None”.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always here to help.
I look forward to your feedback.
Best Regards,
