How to remap the copilot key?

I have the copilot key on my keyboard, and it opens Microsoft Copilot when I press it.

But I want the key to open another app.

I tried from the settings, but the dropdown menu shows only two apps - Copilot and MS Office. (refer screenshots)

How can I get other apps to be opened with the key?

    Hello,

You can use Microsoft PowerToys to remap the Copilot key. PowerToys is a Microsoft utility that allows you to have more control over your PC.

To remap the Copilot key, first, download Microsoft PowerToys from GitHub or search PowerToys on the Microsoft Store. If you got PowerToys from GitHub, then run the installer and once it's done installing, open PowerToys. If you got it from the Microsoft Store, once it's done installing, open it.

Then, you should see the first run screen. You can close out of that and open it again, or you can go straight to where it says "Remap a shortcut". It should give you a set of buttons, push the button that says "Add new". Then, when it asks you what shortcut you would like to remap, if it asks you to push a key, push the Copilot key. If it doesn't, in the dropdowns, select Windows Key+ Shift (Left) + F23.

Then, remap that shortcut to open whatever app you see fit.

Let me know how this goes and Happy Holidays!

    Hi IJ,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

Microsoft said that in the last few weeks that ability to change copilot key to open a signed app(Apps from the Microsoft Store) would be coming in the future.

    Via https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/wi...

Now users will be able to head into the Windows Settings app to customize the behavior of the Copilot key. Microsoft says users will be able to set the key to open any MSIX packaged application, which includes modern Windows apps and many Microsoft Store apps.

    Appreciate your patience.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.

Windows settings now allows you to remap the key to other apps. But not back to the CTRL key. That is the most useful usage of the key. Can Microsoft add that as a remapping option, please!

    Hello,

The Copilot key is just a keyboard shortcut mapped to the shortcut I gave you, Windows Key + Left Shift + F23. If you push the Copilot key, it invokes that keyboard shortcut. So, if you remap a keyboard shortcut from Copilot to whatever app you choose when you push Windows + Shift + F23, then when you push the Copilot key, the shortcut opens the selected app.

    Hope this clears things up.

If I'm not wrong, this would open the desired app when I press Win + Shift + Copilot.

But I want to open that app by pressing the copilot key only.

Is there any way to achieve that?
