Hello,

During gameplay or even in game menus my Graphics card stops outputting any video with the monitor loosing signal, but Windows is still running. I know Windows is sill running because I can heat the games music and other music from the background of my computer; I can also shut tabs etc

To regain video output my computer requires a restart and will not output video to the monitor until it has been shut down and rebooted

The event viewer has the error:

Event 14, nvlddmkm

The description for EventID14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this eventis not installed on your local computer or the installation is corupted. You can install or repair the.l component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

|The following information was included with the event:

(Devicelvideo3

52176a74 c0611ec4 00000000 20253c6c 20253/6е 2025437e 20254216 202505ec

The message resource is present but the messaqe was not found in the messaqe table

I have tried probably every troubleshooting method that doesn't involve buying new hardware

I've used a different monitor, new hdmi cable, new displayport cable, checked psu connections, reseated GPU, used MSI afterburner to increase core voltage, increase ld core clock, decreased core clock, and fully wiped and reinstalled Nvidia drivers

Computer Specs:

Prebuilt Acer Predator Orion 3000

I7-10700

Acer PO3-620 MOBO

NVIDIA GeoForce RTX 3070

2X HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 RAM

Please help, I'm totally befuddled by this

Sorry for not replying to your last tip, I found the problem with the hardware

I opened the gpu up to check for any damage to the board and there was bugger all thermal paste on there

So I reapplied the paste and now it runs 15 degrees cooler and 200% faster without any crashes

    Thanks Rota,

I did use MSI afterburner to reset the parameters to default, but I haven't tried older versions of the 3070 driver, only the most recent

I've have this problem for about a month now. Before this, my GPU was perfectly fine and could easily run games on Ultra high graphics.

The issue first happened after I installed and played Ace Combat 7, where it crashed. After that, it started to do the error on more and more games.

I do find that it doesnt seem to crash as much on games that are very graphically intensive, like BEAMNG.drive and DCS

I'll try rolling back the driver and I'll get back to you

    Hello,Isaac Wapp

Welcome to posting in the Microsoft Community.

According to your description, the video card will suddenly stop outputting the video signal during a game or in the game menu, but the system and background programs are still running. This kind of problem is really confusing and I can see that you have already tried a lot of methods such as replacing the monitor, cables, reinstalling the drivers, etc. All of these methods are very professional and effective in narrowing down the scope of the problem! Next I hope we can find a clearer direction together.

From your description, the “Event 14, nvlddmkm” error in the Event Viewer indicates a faulty driver for the NVIDIA graphics card, which is usually related to a driver incompatibility, a corrupted driver, a video memory problem, or insufficient power supply. From personal experience, the problem is most likely related to a graphics card driver or hardware failure.

    1. Restoring hardware parameters to their default values: Overclocking or changing hardware parameters may cause system instability or excessive power consumption, which can lead to graphics card malfunction or signal loss problems. Restoring default values ensures that the hardware operates within its design limits and eliminates problems caused by parameter adjustments.
    2. Revert to an older version of the graphics card driver: The current driver may have compatibility issues, try to roll back to an earlier version for testing. It is recommended to download multiple old versions of the driver and try them one by one to see if the problem is solved. To ensure a clean installation of the driver, use the DDU tool to completely uninstall the current graphics card driver before installing the old version. This will avoid potential conflicts caused by driver residuals.

Also, I would like some background information for further assistance:

    • Point in time of the problem: Is this problem recent? Or has it started since the hardware was replaced or the system or drivers were updated?
    • Operation before the problem occurred: Before the problem appeared, was there any operation such as system update, driver upgrade or adjustment of settings?

If the problem is still not solved after trying the above methods, it is recommended to do further cross-testing:

    • Test the graphics card by installing it on another computer: This can be used to troubleshoot if there is a problem with the graphics card hardware. If it works fine on another device, it is likely a system or software configuration problem; if the problem persists, you may need to consider hardware repair or replacement of the graphics card.

I hope you try to troubleshoot step by step following the above methods, we can lock the problem step by step from driver compatibility to hardware issues. In addition, if everything can't be solved, the graphics card cross validation can clarify whether further repair is needed. Hope these steps can give you some ideas, you can also share your thoughts with us and we can discuss further.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

    Best Regards,
