Windows 11 won't cast to TCL Roku TV

LG Gram laptop running Windows 11 Version 10.0.22631.

It was working some time ago and now it isn't. When I first booted my PC, it recognized the TV but wouldn't connect. On subsequent attempts, it didn't even find the TV. My wife has a Dell Inspiron 15 running Windows 11 Version 10.0.26100 and it works just fine. I tried resetting my network adapters and it didn't help.

Knowing that this was working on the LG PC and now is not, and that it works on another PC makes me think it's something with the build.

I have the same problem with the 43" Roku TCL TV. After doing the research in different groups it seems that the latest updates of Microsoft Windows 11 disabled the the drivers of the earlier versions, Now. Microsoft is forcing their customers to upgrade their devices with Win Pro-Copilot+ that brings a new "security" driver integrated in a chip of these new PC, read "Microsoft Surface Pro".

In the process, Microsoft disabled the drivers that were functioning before the updates. Now, the current PC that were able to cast to the Rokus TV are blocked. Still the Roku TV is detected but unable to connect. The only way is to use a third party adapter (Miracast) which Roku TV doesn't support.

The new security driver required by the latest updates of Win 11 is named :

    • TPM is a hardware-based security feature found in modern computers. It’s a tiny chip either attached to or built into the motherboard.
    • Windows 11 now requires TPM 2.0 as an essential building block for security-related features.
    • You can verify if your PC has TPM 2.0 by following these steps:
      • Option 1 (via Windows Security):
        • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device Security.
        • Look for the Security processor section. If you see details about your TPM, check if the Specification version is 2.0.

This is not a solution. It is just a statement to validate the same problem you are having. Sorry if I confused you.

When I said that Win 11 detected the external displays available for casting to TV, it shows the 43" Roku TCL TV . But does not connect via the wireless display as it used to do before the latest updates. That is my problem. Maybe your problem is a little bit different than yours.

The new updates installed this new wireless display driver in my computer and removed the last one that I used to cast to my TV. I have the TMP 2.0 after the updates and this driver requires Miracast to cast to TV. Roku does not support Miracast. Before when I was able to cast from my PC to this Roku TV it was done with Screen Mirroring, a feature of Roku.

    Thank you for your comment.

    Hi Gerardo,

Thanks for responding, but I'm afraid I'm not fully understanding what you're saying here. Are you saying Microsoft is forcing us to upgrade our hardware? That doesn't seem feasible.

You said the Roku TV is detected but unable to connect. Windows doesn't even detect the Roku TV (at least not visibly). Then you said the only way is to use a third party adapter, which Roku TV doesn't support. If Roku TV doesn't support it, how is that a solution?

My TPM specification sub-version is 1.38.

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Hi Vinay,

    1. There are no devices listed and I am unable to add it. Nothing appears in the "Add a Device" window.
    2. Didn't work.

    Thanks,

    Dave
