"Ethernet 2" not connected despite being enabled on my Windows 11 PC

Hi,

I have a working ethernet cable plugged into my router and my PC. It says that my Ethernet 2 is enabled but not connected despite the cable being plugged in everything. I have already done a handful of things to solve this issue but no luck so far, such as searching and updating drivers, uninstalling the ethernet device and reinstalling it as well as running commands in my command prompt. I have attached a screenshot of the problem I am facing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi Ruoyu,

Unfortunately your screenshot has not come through. Can you try to attach it again or share a link?

I'm a little confused by your issue. Do you have actual working internet or not on this device?

Upon looking into my settings I seem to have the same Ethernet 2 that you see maybe as well? To be honest with you I couldn't find any official information about this but my guess is this is just a default generic connection which is moved from place one to place two once you have a working Ethernet connection set up.

You cannot have two connections work at the same time, so this is normal to not work. I'll send you a screenshot from my settings. Can you confirm this is what you see as well?

    Thanks!

    Hello Ruoyu,

Troubleshooting network issues can be quite challenging, but there are several steps you can take to diagnose and resolve the problem. Since you've already updated drivers and reinstalled the device, consider checking the network status in the Windows Settings to ensure the Ethernet connection is recognized by the system. If the status shows as "Not connected," you might want to try resetting the network settings, which can resolve a range of connectivity issues. This process will reinstall network devices and set them back to their default settings. It's also worth checking for hardware issues; inspect the Ethernet cable and the router's ports to ensure they are functioning correctly. Sometimes, simply changing the port or using a different cable can solve the problem. If these steps do not resolve the issue, running the built-in network troubleshooters in Windows can help identify and fix common connection problems. These tools can automatically find and fix issues with wireless and other network adapters. If the problem persists, consulting the Microsoft Support page or seeking assistance from a professional technician might be necessary. Remember, when making changes to your network settings, it's important to have your network information at hand, as some changes may require you to re-enter details like static IP addresses or DNS settings.

    Hope this helps,

    Fathia A
