Windows 22h2 to 23h2 update

Ok I have been running windows 11 for at least 2 years now and no issues. Now suddenly I am greeted with this latest update check with a

Now when I hit the check for updates nothing happens it searches and pops back up with the same above message.

The above is the info of the version I am running with no issues. The PC this is installed on is a z590 mb with an i7 11700kf cpu and 32 gigs of ddr5 ram and a 1tb hd along with a rtx 3060 12gb GPU so I am quite sure the system meets the required specs (also if I am running 22h2 without an issue then that alone means I meet system requirements)

So my question is.

  1. why is this not auto updating like it should as I meet specs?
  2. where and how am I to update so I stay current on security updates?

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Microsoft have recently released the 24H2 update that supersedes the 23H2 update and they are slowly releasing that update around the world, that is most likely why the 23H2 update is no longer offered by Windows updates.

The most successful method to install version 24H2 is to use the Windows 11 ISO.

Please follow the steps, this is then not like re-installing Windows, it is just like an update and your personal files, settings and installed software will not be affected.

Click this link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Windows 11 ISO

When the ISO file completes downloading

Disconnect from the Internet

Disconnect all external devices with the exception of a mouse or keyboard.

Temporarily disable any 3rd party Anti-virus you may have installed

Then, in Windows File Explorer, double click the ISO and then run Setup.exe and select the Install option.

"Windows 11 version 22H2 is from 2022 so you have (in theory) missed many updates. What is shown in Update history, does it show failed to install on any updates."

Once I am back at my PC I will screenshot all the previous update statuses so that you can see in fact they have all been coming through and haven't had an issue with one not updating. So apparently either windows just forgot me or they are holding off my update for some reason.

Windows 11 version 22H2 is from 2022 so you have (in theory) missed many updates. What is shown in Update history, does it show failed to install on any updates.

As to why it hasn't updated it's difficult to say, it certainly should have done.

Best thing now is to use the previous link to bring windows completely up to date with 24H2.

Yes I understand that. But my issue is why had I just now been notifies and why hadn't any of my previous updates addressed this upcoming issue. I update regularly, nearly every time I start up my pc's I manually check for updates and do the updates before continuing with what I set out to do on the pc. So this isn't like I have ignored or haven't looked at windows update in months.

It might be because 22H2 is out of support since October.

Follow the link Dave posted. You can try the Windows 11 Installation Assistant to get 24H2 or use the ISO image tp try offline.
