    Hi Akari.

    Thanks for your reply.

I understand that the same crash occurs when you perform some operations in Explorer.

Please try the scenario in my previous reply and try to test and fix it for Explorer.

Check if the problem still exists and let me know the result.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

I am running into issues with using windows explorer, I have been opening two up of windows explorer to move files and then it will crash at random, I will drag and drop or highlight the items to move and then this will happen. This is the most recent error I have gotten.

    Hi Akari.

Thanks for reporting this issue in Microsoft Community.

In your description, the Explorer crash error is sent randomly when you try to move folders.

I noticed that you checked the event viewer and provided us with the relevant error reporting and also tried to fix it using commands from Dism and sfc, thanks for your efforts to resolve this issue, I do understand the frustration and helplessness of having Explorer crash when trying to move folders.

What method did you use to move the folder? Was it cut or copy and then select paste? Or is it some other way or using some third party software or tool?

    Please let us know.

We judge that it may be an error in your account configuration file, or an error in the system file, and we will provide some methods according to these two aspects.

In order to determine whether it is an account configuration file error, you can refer to the following link to create a new local administrator account

Manage user accounts in Windows - Microsoft Support

Check if the same issue is present in the new local account.

If the same problem still exists in the new local account, then it may be a system file error. Since you have already used the command to perform a system file check and the problem is not detected, then please refer to the following link to perform an in-place upgrade of your system.

An in-place upgrade repairs your system by overwriting the system image while preserving your data.

Disclaimer: Let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. Once you are done backing up, you can follow the steps in the following guides:

How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

Please let me know the specifics of your moving folders and try the above scenarios, then let me know the results.

If the problem persists, I may be able to offer you a more “radical” solution.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Best regards,
