Windows 11, version 23H2 (repair version) will not download

Due to frequent crashing of my computer, I went about looking for a way to fix it. While checking for any new updates to fix my issue I got an alert in a yellow box in the Windows Update section of my settings saying, "Reinstall your current version of Windows to repair system files and components".

I have attempted many times to get this Windows 11, version 23H2 (repair version) to download but it will not, instead displaying a "Download error - 0x80070005" and prompting me to retry. The update will fail at different points, sometimes as soon as I start it, other times at 40%, other times at 70%, there doesn't seem to be a pattern. Sometimes my computer will restart on its own, again at random percentages.

A few times the update has gotten to either 99% or 100% but won't go farther than that. I tried to use the troubleshooting feature and its 'Windows Update' sections and every time it seems to detect a problem which it claims to have fixed, but I'm not sure if it is really doing anything.

In my latest attempt the Blue Screen error popped up and reported A "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP" Stop Code. Not sure if this has anything to do with the update not working as I have gotten the Blue Screen many times before (see the start of my post in which I mentioned the frequent crashing). Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached a few screenshots in case those provide any insight into what my problem might be**.**

    Hello Ivan

Unfortunately, this seems to have not worked. I got pretty far into the process and to what I assume is the last step, as it went to a blue screen with a percentage, before it closed the screen and gave me a pop up saying it had failed. then after a moment a "Something Went Wrong" screen in the Windows 11 Installation Assistant window with an Error code 0x800700c1 popped up.

    Hi ,

Download the iso Windows 11 23h2 by following the procedure in the link below

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    Then follow the procedure:

After downloading, find the Windows 11 ISO file on your PC, right-click and select “Mount”. If the option is not available, select “Open With” and “Windows Explorer”

    1. Run the “Setup” application, present inside the Windows 11 ISO, to start the installation on the PC.
    2. With the ISO files folder open, click on the “Setup” executable to continue installing Windows 10.
    3. After that, a Get Important Updates window will appear along with the two options Select: Not now
    4. Uncheck the box I want to help improve your Windows installation to skip sending unknown data to Microsoft about the installation process Next
    5. After that, a License Terms window will pop up, here you have to click on the Accept button.

6.Now another “Choose what to keep” window or “Ready to install” window will pop up.

At this point, you need to change some settings. Click the “Change what to keep” link

    1. You can now see the “Choose what to keep” window along with the three options given below:

Select Keep My files and Programs.

Then click on the Next button.

Finally, the Ready to Install window will appear along with the Install button.

In this step, you have to click on the Install button to start reinstalling Windows 11. During this process, your computer or laptop may restart sometimes.
