Why Do I have Two Desktop Folders?

When I open File Explorer, the first folder at the top of the left hand panel is "Desktop." On the right hand panel, the contents of Desktop show a number of other folders, including "Desktop." That folder has no contents. What gives? Can I delete it?

Thank you for the screenshot. This is another view for the folders. The Desktop under Desktop is your actual desktop.

To change it, right click in a blank area of the navigation pane (left) and uncheck "Show all folders".
