Problems with Bit Torrent connections on Windows 11

I don't know if I should breech the subject of Bit Torrenting here but I am at my wits end with this problem, having scoured the Net and asked numerous helpdesks, tech helps, and othe forums. to no avail.

Long story short(ish), I had to by a new PC as our household switched from ethernet fibre internet to full fibre via wifi and my decade old Windows 10 PC was ill equipped to receive wifi. The new Windows 11 PC connects to the wifi without issue and I get decent speeds (although my room is at the other end of the house where the new wifi router is so I also have a range extender which helps my old TV and Firestick). Anyway, as a regular user of Bit Torrents I suddenly can no longer connect to private trackers for seeding, only for downloading; if I use a public tracker it shows I am connectable and I can seed but only in drips and drabs. I used to use uTorrent as my BT client before but that stopped working completely on this new PC after a week, so I had to swap to qBittorrent.

I have port forwared my router with a Static IP address and set up qBittorent, as well as added Windows firewall allowances yet the problem persists. Having exhausted many options as to whether it is the router (Adtran SDX 611 attached to a Linksys node model no: SPNMX56) or the range extener (TPLink RE300) at fault, I have to wonder if something in Windows 11 might be the key to this issue, sicne it only happened since I switched PCs. The problem is I don't know where to look to find out.

So, does anybody have any advice they can offer me, even if it is just to know what or where to check in Windows and/or my router, BT client set up?

Thanks in advance.

I followed the instructions and this was the result:

As I say, internet connections are generally fine, no disconnections steady speeds, it just when using BitTorrent it is being a pain.

Try running these commands to see if they generate any output:

    netsh wlan show networks
    netsh wlan show interfaces

Then, try running the netsh wlan show wlanreport command again.

Running netsh wlan show networks and netsh wlan show interfaces can help you check if your wireless network adapter and network configuration are working properly. These commands will show the available wireless networks and the status of your wireless network interfaces. If these commands run successfully and generate output, it means your wireless network adapter and configuration are fine. If not, there might be an issue with the network adapter or its driver.

Have you tried running a network report? It's a useful tool in Windows for diagnosing connection issues. You can run this report for wired network too. If you don't understand what's in the report, you can upload it to a cloud service (like Google Drive or OneDrive) and share the link with me. I'll try to figure out what's wrong:

The report might be saved in a hidden folder. You'll need to enable viewing hidden folders first.

    Hi Yuhao,

Thanks for the reply (It's Relph btw not Ralph).

I can confirm my ISP does not throttle traffic as I asked them during my quest for answers. It is a different ISP from before but during a brief period before I got the range extender and had to use the still active ethernet connection on the new PC, the problem was the same, which is why I wondered if something in my Windows set up.

Whilst I am still open to the possibility of there being a setting in my router I may have missed, I have to explore everything before I give up (which will be very soon) hence my post here.

    Cheers

    Hello, LeeRalph

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

It's understandable that you suspect Windows 11 settings might be causing issues with your BitTorrent connection, given the information you have. However, you also mentioned that you switched to a new computer and Windows 11 because you changed your network setup. I'm not sure if your previous Ethernet connection and your current WiFi are from the same ISP, but many ISPs restrict or even block BitTorrent traffic. Even if they didn't before, they might start doing so as more users join. Have you checked with your ISP to see if they have any restrictions on BitTorrent? I think that's the first thing you should confirm. If they don't have any restrictions, then let's continue exploring other potential causes.
