Create an ISO from a DVD in win10

Hi all,

I have an old laptop with Vista and I have the recovery DVD from ASUS. Due to the short life of DVDs I would like to create an iso file, just in case the DVD degrades. I would like to avoid using free spyware tools. I read

but the command is not recognized by the powershell (windows 10), moreover I do not want to copy the files from the dvd, I need a bootable iso copied directly from the dvd in the drive.

Is it possible to create this iso in Windows 10?

    Hello,

    You might be able to follow this PowerShell Script written by ChristianGarcia, which can be found here. Another option to burn ISOs is to use third-party software. Although you don't want to use third-party tools, ImgBurn, which is a very reputable application that allows you to read a DVD and make it an ISO file, but when you download ImgBurn, make sure that you choose Mirror 7, which is from ImgBurn's servers.

    Thanks again for your reply,

    actually I want to copy the whole DVD, which is bootable. I do not know if a bootable dvd is different from a normal DVD, I mean if it has some hidden structure/files which make it bootable, this is why I do not want to copy its files on C

    Hello,

    If you are making the ISO from the files on the DVD, you just have to change the C:\yourfolder to D:\yourfolder (where D should be replaced with the DVD drive letter).

    do these tools allow the creation of an iso directly from the dvd? From the reply in the link looks like I should copy on C: the files in the dvd.

    Hello,

    The link that you included, requires the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) deployment tools and Windows PE Addons (both of which are tools that Microsoft Offers for free). You most likely didn't download the tools necessary, which is why the command wasn't recognized by PowerShell. The Microsoft Learn website provided by SarahKong gives you the link to the above mentioned tools. If you follow the directions on the webpage, you should be on your way.
