Screen cast not working - WIndows reports Miracast not available

My laptop was able to screen cast at one time, but now I can't with windows stating that my "devise doesn't support Miracast". It does. I went through a search for solution, made all the suggesting setting changes (there were none to make), checked the graphics driver (it's up to date) and ran diagnostics to see if it supported Miracast and it does.

Still doesn't work.

Repair/Upgrade didn't work either. Issue remains. Unable to screen cast even though (1) the hardware support it and (2) it was working before some update to Windows 11 that "broke" it.

Some Windows 11 update broke mine too. I have been using mine almost every day for months and it randomly stopped working 1-2 weeks ago. No idea how to bring it back.

Nothing new here... did all that.

    * Updated graphics drivers (even removed the device, then reinstalled original drivers, it still didn't work)
    * Made sure the optional feature for Wireless Dsplay was installed (actually removed it, restarted, and reinstalled it).
    * Ran dxdiag and it reports "Miracast: Available, with HDCP"
    * Checked "Wireless display" and see that my laptop "... is ready for you to connect wirelessly"
    * When I go to select my TV, I'm still unable to do so.

    Hello ColinSachs,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Could you please tell me the full model and brand of the laptop you are using here?

If your laptop used to work with Screen Cast, but now can't, please allow me to share a complete troubleshooting procedure with you here:

Fix connections to wireless displays or docks in Windows - Microsoft Support

It's no surprise that your laptop should support Miracast, so go straight to step 2, make sure Wi-Fi is turned on, and that you have a wireless display app installed on your computer.

It is usually shown in Optional features, click Start menu- Settings - System - Optional Features, please check if it is already installed:

If it is not installed in the list, click "View features" and test that the Screen Cast works after you install it on your computer.

But if it is already installed on your computer, as in the screenshot, but your laptop says Miracast is not supported, consider that you have already checked the appropriate drivers, so follow the instructions to remove the wireless monitor, and then try again from the optional features.

If the problem persists, then perhaps I need to recommend that you remove the graphics driver from your computer completely and reinstall it. You can find the graphics driver in the Display Adapter in the Device Manager, right-click on it, and select "Uninstall Device". After you have done this, click "Scan for hardware changes" and the computer will redeploy the graphics driver.

But my best recommendation is to go directly to the laptop manufacturer's website, download the graphics driver for the device model, and then Reinstall it.

    Best regards,

    Hi ColinSachs,

Thank you for your additional information.

All things considered, I'm sure your computer supports Miracast.

Perhaps this is a system related function abnormal need to be fixed, please allow me to recommend you to use the system file checker to try to fix it all:

Using System File Checker in Windows - Microsoft Support

This is a relatively simple repair step, but if it doesn't work, I recommend performing a Repair Upgrade on your computer via an ISO image file:

How to: Perform a Repair Upgrade Using the Windows 11 or Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

This solution is not to reinstall the system, but with the help of a complete system image, the system file in the computer is overwritten to achieve the purpose of repair. This solution usually does not affect the data on your computer, but it is recommended that you back up important data in advance, just in case.

    Best regards,
