Windows 11 update internet issues

Good day,

This is a crazy weird error I am getting on my Desktop PC. Everything has been working perfectly until this recent update. My internet randomly goes down 3-5 times a day. I went into power settings and ensure it was not going into power saving mode on through the device manager and power settings. Every setting is for performance, not power saving.

But here is the weird crazy part. I was on a zoom call, and my internet went down, except the zoom call. Perfect audio and video from all people on the call and they could hear me. The call went on for an hour with no issues, but nothing else worked, Chrome, Firefox, Outlook, Teams or even Edge. Nothing had internet, just Zoom. Then I was watching YouTube and the videos were playing on Chrome but no internet for any other application.

A restart of my PC and everything works as it should and all app have internet. I have checked my internet on my phone and there is not issue with the fiber connection. I have also switched ethernet ports and no luck. Shame happens on Wi-Fi on the desktop. Not other PC on the network has the same problem. So it is only my desktop and only since the update. I am pretty tech savvy. I have done all the flushdns stuff and reset my internet connection multiple times. I am super confused and cannot find a solution after 2 weeks of looking.

Please assist

Iam having the same issue, iam triple booted one version of windows 11 works fine, windows 10 works fine but the other version of windows 11 24h2 same issue updated mtu settings on both adapters its happening on wifi and ethernet all drivers are updated. so it has to be a windows 11 issues. and i doubt microsoft will fix it. happened after couple of past updates and even update to newest version as issue persists.

    Hello, Jay Strydom

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hello, thank you for your feedback on your issue here, it seems that you are experiencing a situation where you are using zoom but other apps are not connected to the internet, which happens after the update.

From what you describe, it seems that since zoom is a direct ip connection and therefore not subject to other interference, the problem may still be with DNS or interference with the vpv being used etc. If you have proxies or vpn's you can uninstall them or turn them off.

Also refer to the steps below to manually reset your network environment including setting up dns:

    A. Reset network

    1. Search CMD, open and find the command prompt (, to administrator) mode run
    2. In the command box that pops up, enter the following commands in order (after each line has finished running, enter the next one)

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /registerdns

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh winhttp reset proxy

    1. Restart the computer to see if the problem can be solved.

    B. Reset Network Settings

Tap windows+R, type inetcpl.cpl, open Internet Options, click Advanced, and check “Use SSL 3.0” and “Use TLS 1.0”, “Use TLS 1.1”, ‘Use TLS 1.2’, reboot the computer after the application to see if the problem can be solved.

    C. Reset Proxy Server Settings

Click windows+R, type inetcpl.cpl, open Internet Options, click Connections, click LAN Settings, check whether the Proxy Server column is checked, if so, uncheck it and click OK, restart your computer after applying it to see if the problem can be solved.

    D. Change DNS

    1. Click windows+R and type ncpa.cpl.
    2. Click on the name of the network you are now connected to, open the Network Status window, click Properties, and then double-click Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the Network Properties window.
    3. Manually set the DNS servers to “4.2.2.1” and “4.2.2.2” and restart the computer to see if the problem is solved.

After this if it still happens, you may need to do traffic monitoring etc. You can open cmd and run ipconfig /all when the problem occurs.

Then share here and note that your key ip information etc. will be coded.

    Best regards
