I am experiencing this issue on two different Windows 11 Pro workstations. Our Ricoh (formerly Fujitsu) fi-8170 and fi-7160 USB scanners stopped functioning properly after the 24H2 update.

I have installed the latest TWAIN drivers from Fujitsu's support page on both machines and even performed a fresh installation of Windows 11 Pro, but the problem persists.

While the Windows Scan application from the Microsoft Store functions correctly, it does not address the issue, as our document management application relies on TWAIN compatibility to operate properly.

I understand that the December 10, 2024—KB5048667 (OS Build 26100.2605) update claims to have resolved a related issue, but this appears to be a different problem. Ricoh (formerly Fujitsu) has indicated that Microsoft is aware of this issue and is working on a fix.

Currently, I have more than 40 fi-7160 scanners and over 10 fi-8170 scanners connected to Windows 11 Pro workstations, with updates paused to avoid disruptions. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue.

This is happening throughout my clinic as well.

    Just as noted by Luis.

    Fujitsu fi-7160

Latest software from the Ricoh/Fujitsu site: Software Downloads: fi-7160 / fi-7260 | Global | Ricoh

Yes, if I go to the Microsoft store and get the free scanner software that works but like Luis states, that free software does not suffice for production environments.

    Please advise.

    Hi Luis,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

May I know what is your Scanner model number? Have you tried installing its driver from the manufacturer's website? I need to confirm if your Scanner works with Windows 11, especially its driver.

This is now working with our third-party application and the vendor's apps (Ricoh AKA Fujitsu). Follow this link.

Having the same issue with Fujitsu FI-7160 scanners and Windows 11 24 H2 update. Scanner is completely not showing in the list of scanners.

In Dec 2024, we transitioned from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (24H2) on a new PC at work. Connection problem with Fujitsu fi-6130dj scanner which worked in Windows 10. Installation of Windows 11 TWAIN driver from manufacturer was successful. The scanner was listed working in Device Manager but the scanner either did not show or showed as "WIA No Friendly Name" in any application. After some searching, I found the same instruction on another web site just like @Robert Matthews1:

    https://fi-faq.pfu.ricoh.com/hc/en-us/articles/39468376902041-No-scanner-can-be-found-on-Windows-11-version-24H2-SX03047E,

At the step: "{Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware] window and click [Next]", 2 entries of fi-6130dj showed. I chose the 2nd one and voila, the TWAIN driver AND WIA driver for the Fujitsu scanner were restored. Now both TWAIN and WIA show in all applications. Hopefully, the same process will fix scanners/multifunction machines of other models. If you have only one driver listed in the last step, it's an easy choice. If you have 2 listings like mine, try one or the other to see which one works. Good luck.
