Hi ,
A solution presented by the user with this problem on the reddit link worked for two other known users and the alternative solution was not definitive.
Right click on Start > click on Device Manager > double click on Imaging Device > right click on your imaging device and select Disable > Right click on your imaging device again and now select update driver > select Browse my computer for drivers > select Let me choose from a list of available drivers > your driver should be in the list, select it > click Next and after successful loading, restart your computer and with luck, this will allow you scan with Canonutilities.
If possible, try and get feedback if it worked.
