Windows 10 not supported after October 2025

I think it's ridiculous that Windows will quit supporting some of their software. For those who have a PC that's not capable of updating to Windows 11 or higher, Microsoft is asking them to buy a new computer and add to the world's hardware pollution. This is planned obsolescence, intellectual blackmail, and damaging the environment around us. I have a perfectly good computer, that you're saying I should throw out to meet Microsoft's whims. I think Microsoft doesn't really care about the world's environment and only wants us to buy new hardware or software from them. So, every ten years give or take we're supposed to dump our hardware. The software I have meets my needs and I don't need a more advanced operating system; only keeping my old operating system secure.

Prove that you care about the world's environment by supporting the security of the operating system that you've already created.

Thanks, Kevin Wolf

    Hello,

Although it is not recommended, your comptuer can technically run Windows 11.

You will just have to either edit the registry or do a clean install with DISM.

If you could open msinfo and take a screenshot and attach a screenshot of that here, I can tell you if your computer can happily run Windows 11.

Hello, I’m Virginia, a fellow user like yourself.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems.

As we’re a user to user forum Microsoft will not see your comments/suggestions. I would recommend sending Microsoft feedback via the app - Windows key + F key or via the web:

    https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/

Windows 10 will continue to receive Defender & probably serious security updates but no further build updates. There will be extended updates support available at cost from Oct.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/windows/whats-new/e...

User can continue using Win 10 after Oct & there’s also the option to use workarounds to upgrade to Win 11.
