Dear Izaak Fulwood!
Welcome to the Microsoft Community!
I read your post and understand that it is really frustrating that you are having problems with the InstallShield Wizard not working properly when using your computer. Here are some possible steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Run the installer as an administrator:
Right-click on the setup.exe file and select "Run as Administrator". This ensures that the installer has sufficient permissions to install the driver.
Turn off antivirus software:
Sometimes antivirus software can prevent the installer from running properly. Try turning off the antivirus software temporarily and then running the installer again.
Disclaimer: Temporarily turn off real-time Microsoft Defender antivirus protection in Windows Security. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn it on immediately once issue fixed.
Run the installer repair tool:
InstallShield can sometimes become corrupted and need to be repaired. If the installer has a repair option, try running it. If not, you can try downloading the InstallShield repair tool.
Clean the InstallShield cache:
Sometimes InstallShield's cache files can cause installation problems. You can try cleaning the cache to resolve this issue. This can usually be done with the following command:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\InstallShield\Installer\Lightweight\Intel 32\LightweightInstaller.exe" -removefiles -f
Note that you may need to adjust the above command depending on your system architecture and the path where InstallShield is installed.
Use Compatibility Mode:
Right-click the setup.exe file, select "Properties", then in the "Compatibility" tab, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select an earlier Windows version, such as Windows 7.
Check the system log:
If the installer does not give any error messages, you can check the Windows system event log to see if there are any related error records.
Manually install the driver:
If none of the above methods work, you can try to manually install the wireless driver. Go to the official website of the wireless network card manufacturer, download the latest driver, and then manually update the driver through the device manager.
Contact Manufacturer Support:
If the problem persists, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer of the wireless network card for technical support.
I hope these suggestions will help you solve the problem you encounter when installing the wireless driver. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.
Thank you for your understanding and support!
I wish you all the best.
